November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Love this thread! It's LOCKDOWN day! 16 silkies started, 10 in for the final 3 days!

There are 2 I am not sure about, but I am hopeful enough to let them go to the end. I am wondering, what is everyone's experience in hatching positions? Upright or sideways?

I've been wondering the same thing. My eggs were shipped and I have some funky air cells...

OK, thanks very much for the tips!! I have a better understanding of how ot handle the humidity now.. interesting how different people have slight variations :) I am in Oregon just like chickydee64, so maybe her conditions would work similarly to mine :)

Two chickies out now

I have tried all different ways. I took a poll and the majority said laying down. But I did not have luck with that. I have found for me the method that seems to work best is to leave my turner in ( I have a separate hatcher) with it off and all the eggs straight up. I take them all out, lay paper towels down over the turner, put the eggs that are in lockdown around the edges of the bator so I can see them better through the windows, and then I wet the paper towels down the center and along the edges that hang down off the sides of the turner onto the floor of the bator (wire screen covered in paper towel). This is just what works for me

So still no chicks, no pips, no movement today.I have 3 eggs that have made it to hatch dat tomorrow, but still have 2 hanging in there that are at day 23 today. Maybe some of tomorrow's will hatch and insprire the late comers to pop out! I can hope anyway. I'm getting very frustrated and starting to wonder if I have done something very wrong this whole hatch!!! Come on babies!!! I need a sweet little chick to motivate me to keep trying here!!!
