November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

I heard 101, and 102. with 102 there is no mushy undeveloped babies, so that is what I go with or just in between.

K. Just checking. And you may have answered this already, but wear do you keep your humidity 1-18 and 18-21? I've read the article, I'm just wondering about others who have done it. Kind of gathering a consensus before I start this hatch. I have my bator running now. It's only been on for about an hour. I've added NO water and humidity is at 15% on my dial hygrometer and 44% on my digital!! starting to wonder if I have had hygrometer issues but before I never had a huge variation like that. You would THINK the dial would be accurate for sure, but who knows. After reading up about chick mortality I REALLY think it was a humidity issue, as many of you suggested. Guess I need to invest in ANOTHER set of thermometer/hygrometers! Oh well!

After they pip the shell, day 20 for me I toss in a wrung out, 1/2 paper towel.

Ok, so no water at all prior to that, huh? Do you monitor your humidity or just not even worry about it? My gauges are driving me NUTS today. LOL They both read the same thru the last hatch, as we speak one literally says 5% and the other says 35%. LOL I'm trying to get my room humidity up like the post suggests but that's easier said than done this time of year with the central heat running!

Sorry if you are sick of seeing this little baby fuzzybutt, but I just LOVE her! She is so attached since she's a lone chicky. This is how she likes to spend every moment that I'm home. Sorry for the scary pic of me. Allergies are CRAZY right now for me! I'm thinking of naming this baby Domino. It was my 6 year olds idea. 4 year old suggested Strawberry but I thought we should save that one for a red baby. We get plenty of those!
your adorable!! that's a sweet baby what breed?

Thank you! You're too sweet! This little one is an EE crossed with an Old English Black Orp.

what kind of turkey is Max?

Max is also a Bourbon Red. I am thinking of getting him a Grey Slate girlfriend.

Get a small lid (I use a soda bottle cap), fill it with salt and add a few drops of water just until all of the salt is damp but not dripping. Put it in a zip lock bag with the hygrometer. Seal it. Leave it over night.(About 8 hours.) It should read 75%.

So cute. All of my chicks favorite spot. That's how I carried my Maxi for the first few weeks. I'm sure he'd still like to ride around like that but he just doesn't quite fit.

Thanks for the idea! Trying that tonight! I thought of your Max when this baby first hopped up into that spot. lol Must remind them of their mother that way. lol I have a feeling Domino will be hanging out there for a while!
