November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

she has made the hole bigger but she hasn't done a lot of rotating. I am pretty sure she cut off a tiny part of her comb.. I could see it well when it happened.. she was banging her head/comb instead of her egg tooth on the shell edge.

tried to get a pic but its hard to see

if it were me....I would open the top off that shell then let her hatch...something is preventing her from turning....BUT....that's me!!! we all should do what's right for us!

Quote: where you've marked the dip isn't where she pipped...she's not positioned correctly?? what breed? blue eggs

blue/wheaten ameraucanas :) :) :)
okay I want to help her too.. I am staring at a piece of shell that is slipping down next to her eye and she keeps bashing it. and she has not turned at all. going to see what I can do to help without doing too much. no other pips yet luckily

ok - she is out, she is maybe a he? already "blue" feathers on the wings and back? yolk absorbed and navel formed YAY!! thank you for telling me to help her :)

some parts of the inner membrane were dried onto her, and other parts were starting to become gluey but were not hard yet. I think she was also slightly malpositioned? I took pics will upload soon. I have only ever hatched shipped eggs so position to me is hard to eyeball.

I am upset... I decided to candle the other blue eggs since I was in the incubator. 1 looks good, but cant see much, the shell is thick.
the other 2 are light colored shells, they are the ones that illuminated with all their veins when I candled d15 and it was very easy to see into. well I think those 2 eggs might be dead

I can see little bits of blood in clumps, and it also looks like they are sloshing around in clear liquid. It looks like the air cell is detatched as well. These were re-attached on day 18 and I laid them on their side for hatch. I am questioning if laying them on their side killed them maybe. ugh... I put them back in the incubator because I cannot accept they are dead....

starting to get in.....you can see that the areas exposed to air seen here formed a brown/orange coating layer that stuck to her so she couldnt turn. I had been wetting it and removing it some by this point

the membrane underneath was starting to get gooey/foamey, I was wetting it with q-tips
I took this one to show position - is it very off?

enough! get my head outa here!

put her back in the bator to come out of her shell :)

can you see the small blue/black hairs on her back & wings?

I had a bunch of eggs quit too....developed until the last few days! I hate it too but just think...next spring you probably don't have to buy eggs just hatch your own.
you didn't kill them...in the nest they lay on their sides and mama hen rolls them around! just the gamble with shipping

hopefully since usps issues full refunds up to 50.00, the carriers will start respecting the contents.
