November has just started.....

That is beautiful! and I agree that it is a wonderful feeling...I love the feeling of family around the holidays. I am just frustrated that they don't emphasis Thanksgiving anymore. We go straight from Trick or Treat to HO HO HO.

Those feelings you are talking about experiencing is exactly what I have for Thanksgiving....the smells of pumpkin pie, the taste of a freshly carved turkey....the warm house, laughter and small talk, and a ton of cousins to play with.

That IS beautiful, both Eilene and Quail_ Antwerps posts. Its how I have always felt about the holidays. Thank you for saying it in words so much better than I ever could!
LOL, "lots of cousins to play with" really struck a cord. I have over 60 first cousins.

Thank you. This is my favorite time of year because it's great while it's going on and then even after it is over you can still get that mid-year visit again from the spirit and it makes you happy all over again. I always get a little crazy with Christmas and it's stronger now that I have kids because I want them to look back on Christmas and feel the way I feel about it.

Usually my Christmas feelings start around Thanksgiving so I guess you could call them Thanksgiving-Christmas feelings! I think I took the extra early start this year because we are going to finally be home for Thanksgiving and then Christmas and I just can't wait.

We have a house in town here that really goes crazy for the holidays. If he has his Thanksgiving stuff up this weekend I will take a pic for you guys. It's the only house I have ever seen that decorates as big for Thanksgiving as they do for Christmas.

OH I would love to see the pictures!

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite because that was when we would get to see my Grandparents who lived in Tennessee. My Grandfather passed away this past spring. No grandpa this Thanksgiving.

and Grandma isn't able to travel anymore and we can't go to her.

Anyway, since I couldn't find T-Day decorations, I am making my own! I have some wreath making supplies and I am decorating it with pumpkins, and fall leaves, some ribbon, and acorns if I can find them. When I get it all done I will share a picture.

My DH was so mad last night because there are already Christmas commercials on TV. He was yelling at the TV that thanksgiving wasn't over yet! lol.

I am with you, Aly. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite. It's about family, not about who bought who what (which is so much of what Christmas has turned into unfortunately). Christmas with our families is lovely, too, I just get sick of the commercialism around us.

I love the Holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and even the New Year!!
I'm not saying I dont love the holidays!

I am sick of the overwhelming shove of glitter and glitz at the stores ALREADY, in September, for Christmas.....so they can make a buck...its not about the early bird....its about money money money...it doesnt give me the spirit, it saddens me....Im worn out by it, almost desensitized, before Christmas ever get here? Does that make sense?

I was so tickled when my 26 year old called and said he was making me a gift for Christmas!! I cant tell you how special my time with him is, and how much a gift from his hands, and his heart will mean to me. His health issues are more concerning all the time (Sarcoidosis/Asthma/COPD), and I live in fear of losing him...I will cherish a gift from him, even if it's made of tissue paper!!

Thats what I meant by Bah Humbug.......Its too much.......too soon....What happened to Giving Thanks first??? Turkey Day?? Fall Harvest?? The Cornucopia?? Where's the Orange and Brown stuff at the store......

Oh, I'm sorry, you guys are so great! I just miss the simple holidays, when everyone didnt have to have a super mega blaster something, that cost an arm and leg....

At least my Chickens stay the same - They still appreciate warm Oatmeal!!

Rock On!!

I'm with you Tina. It just makes me dig in my heels and refuse to shop. I love Christmas too, but not in a store. In my home, with my family, in church. And I don't want to rush through Thanksgiving and Advent without enjoying them for what they are.
My SIL has sarcoidosis also. We worry about her constantly.
