November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

My 20 just went on lockdown yesterday. Added a small rolled up towel with water to try to keep the humidity up. Right now it is at 70% so I think it is good. Hoping to have some pips by tomorrow night.

How long till they look fluffy? Mine still looks like an alien. On a good note.. she/he DID eat and drink for the first time about an hour ago. Made me feel ALOT better. His feet are also still curled to the inside as well... should I make booties yet or is it ok to give it more time?

And the hopefully soon to be Brooder Buddies:

And the girls at the new coop: Playing Inspector! while we work on their new run...

Don't forget the updates :D  I'm really curious how it turns out. Mine had distinctly yellowish and smelly ooze on it but when I wiped it off the egg didn't smell and I wasn't sure if it even came from that particular egg until later. Keep an eye out for sudden blackening inside. I didn't know what it meant, I just knew it wasn't normal or right so I took the egg out. Thank goodness for this forum or I wouldn't have thought to put it in a plastic baggie before putting it in the garbage can. That would've been quite the surprise :sick

Update:
700

I feel like an idiot because I managed to miss a crack! And there were three other potential bad eggs. Ok, crack is gone, gone, gone; keeping the four oozers until day 4 candling at this point. If a smell arises, they are all four out!

Good luck!! The middle one looks like my oozer after I cleaned it off. Crossing my fingers you'll have a much better outcome!

I'm the one trying to hatch 3 green eggs in the tiny incubator, in a cold house near winter. I candled today (day 7) and could only see the air bubble line and the yolk in the egg. The shell is just too dark to be able to tell anything else with my little flashlight.

Its the same photo, Except for the fact that i tossed out the worthless thermometer that came with the incubator it looks the same.

I think the hatch has failed but plan to incubate until I'm sure. I'll let you all know how things are going this time next week. It is just so hard to keep the temp's where I need them when the temps in the house fluctuate so much throughout the day. I was happy to see that the little 7 watt light bulb can keep the temperatures up with some insulation surrounding the bator so i plan to get a Styrofoam container and try again in the spring with locally purchased eggs. I'd buy some now online except it is already too cold to ship eggs and i have seen how the local post office handles packages.

Ok, well... I was very very naughty today.

First I didn't get any pictures of the two little fluffers, but on top of that...

I water candled my remaining eggs.

I was so worried that most of them were dead, but the good news is that all but 1 or 2 wiggled so....

So here I am, late on day 20 with no pips, no known internal pips (although some intrusion into the air cells) but possibly some living eggs, assuming I didn't just kill them by dunking them in a bowl of warmish water.

Don't follow my example. I mess everything up.
I'll do my penance by getting the camera on those chickies.

I just hatched 2 more eggs from my Frizzle Hen... hoping for more frizzles! I got one already and it is adorable.. it may be a roo, we'll see! My duck eggs have about 11 days to go and all ten look good! I found a kiddy pool at my neighbors house when they moved out so I will try to use that for a brooder. I really want to better socialize this bunch because our first ducks are still terrified of us... buggers! The ducklings my duck is raising are more relaxed, fortunately.
