November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

Lol I wonder if people who incubate have higher blood pressure than the rest of the populace?

Crossing my fingers with you! Good luck!

It is like giving birth all the time!! I noticed I was pretty relaxed about incubation this time so it snuck up on me!

My humidity was fine the entire time, but we had to help 2 of the ducks because they shrink wrapped. That was nerve wracking. We unzipped for them then pulled the inner men brain a little off from them and put a little warm water on the membrane and popped them back in the bator. They both pushed themselves the rest of the way out and are lifting their heads and walking around just fine. I'm breathing a sigh of relief. I have the same freak out about the same time lol
Glad those two made it! I forgot... what kind of ducks are they?

I purposely had humidity low because I was thinking I had it too high for all my previous duck eggs. I was thinking I might lockdown tonight and I candled them all to mark the air cells and it looks like I have a couple that are almost internally pipped!! I'm only on day 24 but I have had temp a little high for my bantam eggs and I didn't lower it for the ducks... so many details... So my cuties might be a little early!

They are mutts lol half buff and black east indies, apparently our khaki Campbell was older than we thought too... we have one that looks like a mallard. Have 5 now. This is the last one that just hatched.

(the khaki Campbell's baby) She was just killed by a coon so this is a very happy surprise.

I have a pip in one of my cream legbar eggs! It's in the middle of the egg, more towards the narrow end. I'm a little worried. It is peeping. I peeled just a tiny bit of egg to reveal the membrane and made a tiny snip near the beak. It's day 21, but I had a half day where the temp was a little low (92-94), so if they are ok, they will probably hatch late. I don't want to to rush help this one, but I am worried about it since it's not in the big end.

A local friend of mine has cream legbars from the same batch from the same breeder. She had 2-3 pip like this and they all died. :(

I give my out of air cell pippers 24 hours to absorb yolk and help them if they need it. Most all of mine make it and are just fine.

So sweet... I am happy you got a baby from her.

I just realized that the two surviving eggs have been internally pipped for over 24 hours. Actually DD mentioned it. It was a couple of crazy days and when I got home last night at 7:13 pm (I know the exact time because I had just gotten home from the ER with DH) I heard them chirping.

When do I start to get worried that there is not an external pip?

'Dew clay' is how they pronounced it in an article I read. Fun to make up different pronunciations though. Embarrassment aside! I like duckle too! Lol.
X2!!
