Good luck!! Mine are just starting to pip!

Exciting!!!!

I made a small safety hole last night in the two remaining eggs who had been internally pipped for over 24 hours. This morning I woke up to one of them externally pipped. The other one has not pipped but the egg is still moving and I can hear it chirping so I know it's still alive.

I am glad you did that... I wanted to suggest it but I tend to error on the side of too much help and know that isn't for everyone. I'm happy they are doing well!

Well, I have two pips! Nothing from the other eggs yet. This is the first time that I've actually been able to hatch in my Brinsea - usually I have to lock down in the LG because I have staggered batches going. So this exciting for me! I get to see if the Brinsea works well as a hatcher.

How do you pronounce that? I want to say something fancy like due-clay, but I read it as duckle.

The baby that was external pipped hatched out sometime in the last hour or so. It looks like it still has a bit of yolk to absorb, hard to tell without opening the incubator. He/she is resting now. The other egg is still rocking but has not externally pipped yet.

no that was my fault. I was feeling a bit panicked and didn't articulate as well as would have been helpful. No there was no blood thank goodness! when I candled the veins looked like they were drying out? or receeding? Not sure how to describe that. they were very thin and looked like there wasn't much blood in them. I thought it was because the chick was dead. I've been reading up on assisted hatching. Thank you so much for that idea btw!! It didn't occur to me to go that route. I was trying to look up how to help or what to do but the only thing I could really think to google was 'I'm an idiot, what do I do now?'  Humidity is naturally climbing in the bator. It's at 75% without me doing anything. I read that was a good thing but will it affect the other eggs in lockdown?

Do you have an air hole or 2 open? I had to do that for mine when the humidity climbed. We also had 2 ducks that shrink wrapped and had to assist. They had the same type of air hole for 34 hrs and we could tell they were shrink wrapped and the membrane was too dry and starting to stick to them. We carefully zipped them and dripped warm water on the membrane (watch for the beak if you do it. Don't want it to drown.) Then we placed them back in the bator and let them push out so it would help strengthen their muscles. They were a little floppier than normal when they got out. Left them in the bator until they could hold their heads up, but those little suckers made it!

7 baby ducks and 2 more working on hatching. My white leghorns are not early unlike my ducks. They are right on time 2 down 20 to go! Ducks and chicks cuddling in the brooder. Its too cute!

Yes I have an air hole open. The humidity is at 76 and I think it's still slowly climbing. Should I open the other vent hole? I'm not sure if that's too high or not. How do you tell they're shrink wrapped before it's too late? It's a hole about the size of half a dime and all I can really see inside is the very tip of the beak

My first chick to hatch under broody. Have another 10 due next weekend which i need to candle in Monday as incubator at my sons school.

So cute!!! It that a bantam... it looks really small.. but I guess they do before they fluff up!
