November Hatch-a-long...

Pics
I have 3 barred rock, 2 rhode island red and 4 lt brahmas as a laying flock. I have 10 black astraulorp and 5 Crested cream legbars with 17 ccl and 17 fbcm in the incubator.

I am in rebuild mode as I moved from the east to the desert southwest.

I will be building up and breeding the following.

Crested Cream Legbar
Isbar
French Black Copper Maran
Self Blue (Lavender) Ameraucana

with all those culled from the flock going to the laying pen.

As i only have so much room in the greenhouse right now for young chicks, I probably will not hatch in december and pick up again in February when the warm weather returns

Curiosity killin' me...

You fellas with the multiple hatches in November and people hatching 4, 6, 8 breeds right now...how many birds in total do you have on site right now?

I have a lot chooks in my place for the moment .chooks every where .
I ll be culling all the old stock except 10 best marans hens ,10 CLB hens and 5 marans roosters ,the rest has to go . making room for the new progeny ,they are better bred and better quality chooks ,plus a lot of them expetting 700 to 900 chicks . allready hatched 170 chicks ,430 eggs baking now and 300 for December hatch last one of the year .

When I m with chooks I m in really deep medetative state off mind ,very calm and contain . love my chooks more than any thing else in this planet .

chooks man .

Wooohooooooooo!

I set 6 eggs yesterday, and one new pullet egg that was definitely too small. Today, 24 hours later, I cracked the pullet egg. CELLS DIVIDING!!!!!

It was a shot in the dark before, so I think my problem was collection. I wasn't;t paying any attention. So now I should be able to get something to hatch.

Im going to collect for the next 7 days whatever I get from the broilers and put them all in in a week and do a staggered hatch.

Day 15
Candled this morning and air cells are increasing and all are active:)

The twins were terrific 2 days ago. This morning the one at the the end opposite the air cell seemed asleep or less active or maybe just hidden? The darkness shows the same relative size progression as the other so...
My chicken twins started being less active halfway through, I think it's because there's less room from them to move freely.
