November hatch along

We have two broody hens sitting on eggs atm. First one is on 8 eggs, day 11, second one on 12 eggs, day 8. Expected hatch days are 6 & 9 November. First time hatching, so we really have no idea what we’re doing and are leaving it up to the hens. Eggs are a mix of Araucana, Marans and Maran x Barnevelders. We haven’t candled the eggs, may try tonight.

Eggs are going in incubator tonight. I have it cleaned and warming up. My last hatch rendered only two chicks. Hoping I get more this time. Trying to get enough girls to replenish my harvest next spring with minimum impact on egg production. I'm placing Rhode island reds and buff orpingtons. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck!! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

Yesterday I pulled some duds and some blood rings. I have 16 out of 21 due to hatch on the 7th. Six out of 12 due to hatch on the 9th. I haven't pulled any from my third set since they are only on day 7 today (due to hatch on the 11th), but I saw movement in all but three of them. Those 3 are BCM eggs and are very dark, so I will keep an eye on them, hopefully they will be good, as I have a BCM cockerel that is 6 weeks old.

Hey everyone! I just set my first eggs ever in my incubator yesterday, with a hatch date of November 17. They are shipped eggs so I'm not expecting a high hatch rate but at least one would be cool to see and experience. I have some welsummers, easter eggers, lavender orpingtons, and few random ones. I am new to keeping chickens and my first day olds should be shipping out this week. Best of luck to everyone who has eggs going right now!

Thank you! And good luck to you!

Mine are set to hatch Nov13th and its my last hatch of the years, the girls need some long dark nights to rest. I will resume 21 days before Feb 1st. Currently in the Incubator... 12 Dark Cornish I got through eBay/Mail. and a bunch of differet variation of Marans/Easter Eggers in my attempt to make Olive eggers in Red, Columbia, and Cuckoo/barred. I want to create the parents for Olive egger sex links. I have 4 eggs that may have Dorking over a Red Ranger however the previous mating with an Ayam Cemani may be in her system. I do not mind making a few more "Black n meaties" before moving on to my Dorking Red Ranger project. I also have a few Seramas and a Mystery Egg from my mismatched Bantam flock that I sold just before starting the incubator.
