Hi Jean,
I am so sorry about this situation, I know how infuriating it can be.
I've had the same thing happen with pictures of my Araucanas from my website.
People have tried to use my pictures to sell Easter Eggers.
Even worse, a woman who really WAS selling "true" Araucanas used one of my pictures, and when confronted claimed that it really was her bird!
I DO have the ability to watermark all my photos -- though with the sheer number of pictures on my website at this point, it would be a lot of work.
However -- I REALLY do not like the visual handicap of a watermark. I want to display NICE-LOOKING pictures of my birds on my website. A small watermark in a corner would be OK, but anyone could easily crop that out, and a large watermark across the entire photo is (in my opinion) ugly and distracting.
Instead I put a large notice across the top of each page that reads:
*** Copyright 2007 www.araucanasonline.com. Unless otherwise noted, all pictures contained within this site were taken by me and are of my own birds. THEY ARE NOT TO BE USED ELSEWHERE WITHOUT MY EXPRESS PERMISSION. Thank you. ***
So far it seems to have discouraged the ebay sellers from stealing them (and I check ebay auctions for Araucana eggs every week).
