Now that chicks are better from coccidia, do they have immunity?

I dearly apologize if I was supposed to continue on an old thread, but this is a different question than before.

5 week old chicks look like they are recovering beautifully from coccidia. PHEW! They had me pretty scared!

Now that they are doing better, have they developed the immunity for the coccidia here? Will they get sick if they go out again?

Would it be best to choose a control group or "guinea pig" group, before committing too many of them to days out?

Maybe if people see this - for the record, I had the best luck with vinegar in their water and Corid (amproleum). Sulmet did nothing for them, so the strain was one that the sulfer med couldn't touch. With so many chicks I ended up trying different things with different groups of chicks.

Thank you!

There are 9 types of cocci that chickens can get. Corid treats all 9 types whereas sulmet only treats 2 types. It's possible your chicks couldve had only 2 types of cocci (for example,) they can be susceptable to the other 7 types...no telling which ones though.
FYI: I would never recommend mixing meds with anything including ACV unless prescribed by a vet. The reason is simple; the product could change the properties of the medication and either make it ineffective or deadly.

Thank you so much, Dawg53!

After posting, I was considering they may have had 1 or 2 of the 9 different types. Meaning it is possible they will develop it 8 or less more times as they build immunity, like kids in school with colds, right?

I divided the chicks out into a number of different groups so I can prevent overcrowding, maintain cleaner environment, isolate and medicate. Some had sulmet in the water, some had amprolium medicated feed and vinegar in their water. The sulmet dosed chicks didn't do as well, and some died, but not all. The amprolium ones recovered very nicely. The sulmet ones, I gave them a little time in between and hand fed yogurt and added vinegar to the water. But I became nervous and after 48 or so hours, kept the vinegar in the water and gave medicated feed. I ended up saving many of the "sulmet" chicks.
This I did after reading amprolium treats all 9 types and Sulmet only one or two.

In all, I have lost 6 chicks out of 50 sick chicks.
Still sad, but not as sad as losing all 50 of them. Ready for the next big thing! Ima learnin'!!!
