I had one very young hen die on me toward the end of summer and her face puffed up so bad she couldn't see. I never did find out what went wrong with her and none of my other birds had any problems at all. She was one of only two chicks I hatched from one of my BLRW hens mated to a black EE roo. Here is what my poor girl looked like, she lasted somewhere between a week and ten days (we do not have an avian vet up here):

At first I didn't notice what was exactly wrong, only that she was depending more and more on her sister and then as she became more swollen, then I could see that and isolated her completely away from all the other birds. I would feed and water her as she couldn't see where anything was but she died one day while I was at work
