Now When Do Those Hatch? Oh Dang!!

It looks like she'll keep an eye on them while I'm gone.
 
Well, I have three and that looks like thats all. When I came home the incubator went up to 114*. They do perfect until lockdown, and then it goes crazy. This is the second time and there will not be a third. I am going to make one and throw those styrafoams out the window. I have never seen anything as bad as this, the room temp changes 5*, but for some reason it spikes 15* at lockdown. I hate my LG, I will just make a good incubator no matter how much it costs me. I can't afford a sportsman, but I will make one 500000000x better than these heated ice chests they call incubators. I am going to call and complain because I know my thermometer is right because it works fine in my home made hatcher that broke for some reason.

Wow, That is tough...Alot of time, money and little lives lost... Does the LG have a wafer thermostat or the electronic ? Either way it dont look like it can be trusted. I have been thinking about building a better bator too. When you get closer to ready to build, lets have a thread and brain storm some ideas for heat source, thermostat and such. Bill
 
I'm so sorry. I have an LG too but I've heard that when the heating elements start to go, it goes berserk. I hope mine will hold out a little longer as I literally just set 64 eggs this a.m. and am planning on setting 3 pharoah quail eggs in 4 days so they will hatch with the chicks...again, i am so sorry.
 
Also For Clarification, Its Not The Element Its The Thermostat Control Unit, Or Wafer And Switch That Does This. When The Element Goes It Just Doesnt Heat At All....
 
Oops, it is electronic, I think I will order the one from the second link when I get the box built. I have 2 PC fans, and some 1/4 inch wire. For a thermostat I think I will use part of a hot water heater, but I might buy one for a house and wire it in. I will use some of the insulated board for the inside and make a wooden box with two small plexiglass windows on top to surround it. I think I'm gonna use pvc pipe for the water rings and use a bakers tray as a droppings pan. There will be room for 2 egg turners and a separate section exactly the same exept without the fans as a hatcher. Sound good?
