So I read someone comes and tests. (I have shown 3 times and they tested my ducks, and the tester said, "I'm not testing your goose", funny , cause I was trying to figure out how he was going to test a big African). But I read the regs. and of course we know it was written up for large factory type hatcheries ... they mention sanitation , seriously , Ducks? I mean we all know that any water pail or pond is dirty 5 minutes after you clean and fill them.... Now I keep my feed in metal cans in my garage, and feed fresh daily and let them free range. But I mean, they kill mice that come in their pens, flies are abundant, which they eat, compliments of the valley's farmers who spread chicken manure on their fields , often leaving it in piles on the ground.... I mean I know it is to protect the chicken industry ....but it again ...it narrowly applies to a "industrial factory model"... I was interested to speed up the showing process and be able to ship birds... are they seriously going to want to swap my Hovabators? As for controlling rodents, we have hawks, owls, cats and ducks. I stopped using poisons when I realized my ducks had killed and half the body was gone on a mouse one day....I hose my night pen/aviary daily, but other pens are ala natural with nests or small houses with straw....My bantamn ducks are in raised pens, but the large ducks are not.... I mean Georgia has two seasons....Mud and Fly
