Nugget died today.

I'm so sorry you lost Nugget. Kudos to you for doing the right thing for your feathered friend. I have yet to have to cull a bird, I can only hope to have the strength to do what you did today.

Condolences on the loss of Nugget.
She is at peace now. Maybe she will come to visit you in another form.

I would like to have a Speckled Sussex sometime. They are such beautiful birds.

Sorry for your loss

It's a very hard thing to do, you have my sympathies. Sometimes doing the right thing is awfully hard.

Aww, so sorry for your loss and pain of having to cull a beloved bird. Perhaps she had more then what you could realize for digestive problems, for instance small duct for releasing what was in her crop, no one can guess which bird is going to break our hearts- its sad that we get so attached, but how can some not get attached.
Many good thoughts to you during this time.

There is only one thing harder to do than cull my chickens....watching them die such a grueling, slow death. I always feel better thinking how much happiness I have allowed them to have- compared to so many others that live in sad conditions. It is especially easier when, in my mind, I have done everything I know to do...then I can let go. My heart goes out to you and everyone who loved Nugget. We at BYC have been rooting for you and Nugget....now know that we grieve with you too. Lots of love today.... from your BYC friends. We understand.

I am so sorry for your loss. Those silly chickens really make their way into our hearts, don't they? I have had to cull a sick bird, and it is not easy but the most humane thing you can do. Suffering is never an option in my opinion. Best to you.

Anne
