Poor little Nugget, my Speckled Sussex pullet, died today.

She developed her third impacted/sour crop only a few weeks after we managed to pull her through the last episode, and she was losing weight too fast for us to pull her through this time. She enjoyed a final meal of as much scratch as she wanted, which she has not been allowed for months, then she was sent on to a better place via the broomstick method.

It was the first time we had to cull a bird.

  10. Man does it suck when a trusted friend has to die.
I know that in the chicken world one is going to loose
some feathered friends, but why is it the ones that
    are special to you ?
