Numi

it was 100° inside a few days ago. He's to frame a screen wall/door so I can leave the exterior doors open.
Wow that’s hot in May! Holy cow hot for mid spring. I suggest a sealed motor fan meant for outdoor use, especially with the dust and dander of fowl.

Googling barn fans may give you ideas for placement. Often in horse stalls we place them in the high corner or in front of a grilled window. Maybe high corner above where the screen wall will be, if you think there is enough remaining structure, to pull outside air in.

Thanks- ordered the correct type of fan after reading this. Guess I didn't realize you could get a fan that lasts for more than a year. 🙄

Ok, so MAYBE Numi is a little spoiled. She took to her coop well, returned to it on her own last night. She's made friends w/Brodie and spends her day grazing w/him.
Yesterday I looked in at mid day and they both were inside happily eating and drinking.
Unfortunately for Brodie, what goes in must come out, and then Numi stepped in it....
She shook her foot trying to get it off, and then charged at him sqawking, wings slapping him as she chased him out of the coop.:gig

What did you get Sydney? I’m thinking we are going to have a hot summer and I should replace my old box fans for fear of fire…
If I were you, since you can mount them, I'd get the wall mount air king or similar w/closed motor. It's the least expensive option.
I don't feel good about mounting anything in the shed so got blower fan. No blades, free standing, can't be knocked over, totally enclosed. Numi either stands on or in front of the little one in there now, so may have a fight on my hands taking it from her. But atleast w/this one I won't worry about her somehow managing to get a toe inside. -shouldnt be ablevto with the one I've got, but never say never..

Well, it's official-my Numi Girl done went and grew up, got her own place, found a mate, and 20220723_184554.jpg

She & Brodie finally conceded to being guardians of the Littles. Brodie has REALLY taken to the roll.

And keeps an eye on Numi as well.(sorry, blurry, but he's peeking in the corner at her.

Numi is pretty tolerant w/the Littles as well. She doesn't mind them cuddling around the nest or staring at her while she's on, and they aren't exactly tiptoeing Screenshot_20220723-183916_Yahoo Mail.jpg when she's off.
Everyone's doing well. The 3 light ones had baths today..they must be lower on the totem pole bc they catch the-

One of the slates had 1st aid today after being poked in the eye. "He" looked like someone out of Dawn of the dead, but once I cleaned him up, it was minor.
And to finish up, Little Blue, after "her" bath.

11 wks - This was they're 1st time out in kennel. They're responding to Mama Rose, who's all the way on the other end of property (particularly vocal today).

The one you hear comebacking through out is Gabby. The white male that chimes in is Zuri (Little Dummy).
The feeble one at the end that kicks in with a chatter or trill is the blue/lavender🤷‍♀️ - Willow.
Mochie was pretty quiet until the camera was off.
* the only injury in the process if this filming was to the photographer. I rounded up everyone else to kennel, went back for Mochie, & Brodie went all parental on me & kicked me in the face. Didn't break the skin, but left a tiny bruise.🦅😳
Numi is still in waiting. Should be hatching this weekend.

Well I can’t heart this after you were kicked in the face, but yeah for the happy little confusion getting some sunshine!

I guess he showed me. Lol. Hopefully he and the 7 will be as much help to Numi as Mama had, bc she has a lot of eggs under there. The 7 line up on the box and stare at her,and sleep near her on the ground instead of on the roost. Brodie checks on her and sits quietly for awhile, but duty calls w/the other 7, so he can't sit still for long. I'll have to keep Mia away;he has zero patience for the 7.
So far I've seen 5 little heads poking out this a.m. she's such a good girl; the only time she's hissed at me is when I walked up to her w/a hat on. She didn't like the hat. Other than that, she's still Numi Girl, looking for a chin scratch and a back rub.
She's made me laugh a few times. When she'd come out to eat each day, she'd do an inspection of her corner & tidy up. If one of Brodie or the 7's feathers was laying there, she'd pick it up and move it out of her area, and go over next to the jumbo coop to relieve herself.
We've been chuckling bc the look on her face seems to indicate she'll be glad when this is over, & she'd rather be in her comfy brooder & getting warm showers. lol.
