NY: BEAUTIFUL 2 Yr Old B/W Paint Filly MUST SELL ASAP $500

coopin...here in Long Island, space is at a premium and, truthfully, with my asthma, my situation for getting her ready for a better sale isn't going to improve, I don't think.

Long Island is not an easy place to sell horses...not much land here. Boarding very, very expensive and hay is at least $9/bale and at Agway today, it was $13.50. To have the spring shots and teeth done on three horses last month was $1500 and trimming hooves is $50-75 per horse.

The longer I wait, the more I spend. She has been on Equine.com and Dreamhorse.com with photos for three months and ONE inquiry. It's a horrid market and she is just a beauty!

Oh I wish I lived closer Nancy! I'd take her in a minute!

You're right about the market now, I see all kinds of beautiful horses on Craig's List these days for these measly little prices.

Nancy I saw this post and got nervous thinking you were getting rid of all
your horses. It was a relief to see it's only one but I'm sorry you must get rid
of her.

I never realized how bad the horse market was. I only knew how much they cost
to board. This is so educational.

Have you tried listing her up here? If you have a flyer you can email me I'll post it
at the feed stores. Can you take a horse trailor on the ferry? If you did find a home
up my way I can help transport. My old beater truck, the one that is usually filled
up with wood chips, will pull anything.

Careful with the prednisone. I was on it last summer for a BAD case of poison ivy.
It turned me into a mean road rager..

Don:

I decided to divorce my husband at 5:30 this morning! LOL. I was screaming and cleaning out his drawers and throwing stuff in his shower stall. I have never done that in over 12 years of marriage and I can be a itch with a b.

Can't sleep...cough all the time, sweat all the time...jittery..painful....Only 10 days of it, thank goodness. But, at least it is giving me the energy to finally take care of this.

I am going to sell two of the my three horses. My percheron, Caleb, who is my dear friend, will stay here with the goats and the geese and maybe the donkey..but the donkey has been on loan all year with the potential for a sale.

The geese and ducks would love to have ALL of the acreage to themselves, but they can share it with one horse and some goats. LOL.

I had rescued a REALLY nicely bred quarter horse and I have it to someone for $100 to pay for papers and that person put me through so much hell that I swore I would never give another one away. The ones who pay $6000 come and get their horses. LOL.

If I get the $500, it just covers the summer shots and coggins, basically. It was $3500 for her, plus $1700 to ship her here from Wisconsin. I expected her to be bigger, for sure.

I am sorry your going through such a tough time, Unfortunately for all equines many people are totally financially failing. In the market down here in FL I have been offered 33 YOUNG untrained horses reg and un reg for free this month alone! Sadly horses are NOT moving or selling. She is cute and may make a cute pony for an adv child. I hope you can move the horses, but this market is such a bummer. I have a self funded rescue and am TOTALLY FULL> I had to watch 12 horses (TOTALLY HEALTHY) put down at the local Animal control. They were LET LOOSE and dropped at other farms in hopes of finding a home that could feed them. I am 20 mins to a local slaughter feedlot holding pen, I can NOT tell you how many gorgeous weanlings and yearlings and young un trained horses are there. If you can find a knowledgable home I would cut your losses and keep your health and re-home them on contracts. I would be VERY careful where an Overo mare with no skills go, it screams rebreeding all over it. Esp not knowing if she is a LEthal White Overo. I wish I had a million dollars I would come get her. I am from MA and hubby from NJ so I hear ya on prices for care and board. They say this winter holds tragedy for all equines with middle class to lower class owners. I am stockpiling hay just for our short winter. Take care of yourself.

What a beauty!!!

Sorry you're not feeling well. :-( My 8 1/2 yr old is on prednisone for asthma and has been for going on a year. THAT explains a lot of his nasty mood changes. *sigh* He used to be my sweetheart mamas boy. Now he's turned in to the devil. ;-)

Humm on way to and from va bring horse trailer and park it and fill up with hay for return trip? It is like 6.00 a bale here at the farmers. timothy and alfafa. I think that is high but much cheeper then your agway.

Woodstown NJ . off 295 etc
