I sent you a pm For anyone wondering, my drake is directly from Holderread out of their special top show quality breedings and my females are from another line descended from Holderread birds, so they are from good lines.

Pyxis - please put me down as having NZ white rabbits for sale. Please let me know how much for a trio of WH. I don't think I'm going to be having chicks this year. I'm ordering Bredas' and D'Uccles for April so doubtful if there will be any chicks by then.
This surgery thing is certainly messing stuff up...

. But at least I will be able to drive by then...May 20 sounds good to me chickengirl15.

Well, I've been a LOOONG time since being on BYC, but I'm planning on coming to Chickenstock if all goes well.
Either date works for me, no kids or baseball to schedule around.

Though I may not bring so many "extras" as I did last year, so if anyone is interested in
hatching eggs, chicks, started pullets of my Catskill Homesteaders - let me know.
One pen I hope to have set up before then is from the CL/EE (from @Susieq2015 )x Homesteaders
Also my bantam/large fowl "Mini Flower" cuties that are excellent mothers.

Hatching eggs or poults of heritage turkeys - I'm hoping to have 2 breeding groups this year.
One tom being a Bourbon Red & one tom being a Narragansett - over Bourbon Red/Narri F1 & F2 cross hens

Perhaps eggs or ducklings from the muscovys, but if they're anything like last year, they wait until summer nearly starts before ducklings hatch!
It's probably because they sleep under the coop, so it doesn't get light under there to stimulate laying earlier.
But, they refuse to sleep elsewhere, so I just go with the flow!

@Pyxis - if you could add me to the list, then the info on this won't get "lost".
Most likely I'll just do hatching eggs for the raffle, unless I think of something else.

I would be interested in a rabbit processing demo or at least a dish with rabbit meat to see if it's something we want to get into. If not I think we might buy a few just to butcher ourselves and cook. But would still prefer someone experienced to lead the way

If anyone wants a rabbit processing demo, I've done them before, watched videos of Daniel Salatin & tested out his "tips".
So, I'd be willing to demo, if someone had a rabbit to process, as I no longer have any.
But, I've continued to occasionally process for another homesteader who does raise a few.

I've mostly just cooked our rabbit (still have some in the freezer) using the crockpot. Then, de-boned it, which is a job in itself.
But, I know there are other ways to use rabbit.

I think I might be in the market for poults in May. My only worry is that they might wander more than my chicken flock so I will have to wait until Spring cleanup and coop restoration before I commit. Ideally I'd have a cleaned up fenced hoop coop for spring ducklings and poults to process each fall. In my mind I can make a hoop structure that will be mobile enough to use in the garden in early spring and late fall to extend my growing season while being a grow out coop for spring-fall poultry/fowl harvest. I still have to get my set up for processing in the barn improved too.

I think I might be in the market for poults in May. I kept mine in moveable pens on pasture for growing out, as I've heard to them going off to join wild turkeys in the fall. Plus, I was using my neighbors property to pasture them, so didn't want them going everywhere. They definitely know how to fly! Some people just clip their wings & use electronet, but I'd only do that if I had a livestock guardian dog.
Anyways, I'll add you to my list & we'll be in touch closer to May to finalize if you still want them or not.

My poults will have their very own coop and run. I plan on trying 2 breeds of heritage and both colors of BB. I'm curious about taste and size difference between the breeds. I've only ever had store Turkey and I am done eating birds out of a tiny cage.

The BB def. get bigger, faster but also eat a lot more than the heritage (from what I've heard & saw when a friend was raising white BB). With the heritage, the females are noticeably smaller, so I just sold them as breeders or pets. The breast meat on the heritage is not like the BB, yet when raised long enough, gets a delicious layer of fat. We brined & roasted a 9.25# turkey in Dec = so delicious!
