Ny-chicken-lover chickenstock '17

So it appears that I can add pekin ducklings and eggs to my list of available things because the pair from the neighbors that was always over eating my food has actually finally moved in for good. I'll be putting the other pekin girl I have with them to make a trio. So if there's any interest, let me know, I can do eggs or ducklings either straight run or sexed pairs.

I'll keep that in mind. I have muscovy ducks, but have considered getting Pekin to cross to make the Moulard which is supposed to be a great meat duck "terminal" cross.
But, I don't necessarily want to raise messy ducklings, as I've always had the ducks do it for me. Except in 2016, I did pen the mom & ducklings for a few weeks to make sure they grew some before releasing them into the adult flock of ducks and chickens.

They do make messy babies! I have found a way to cut down on most of the mess though using pans made to catch the water they splash out of the waterers and special waterers to cut down on the splashing so they can't splash as much out to begin with

Sugar, my pekin from my flock, is great because she actually broods, which is very unusual for pekins, so I'm interested to see if that trait passes to her daughters.

Yes, I've seen ideas for catching water under the duck's water bowls. I've been tempted to get some from TSC in past years, but May would be a better time anyways when it's starting to warm up. While I'm not a fan of solid white birds, I'd like to at least see how Pekins differ in the meat department vs the very lean Muscovy.

Gramma chick, I'll put you on my list. Now, I found out that the one pullet was actually a Legbar/EE from suzieq last Chickenstock. Surprisingly, she's the smallest of the CL/EE pullets. Since I have quite a few pullets, I'll probably sell her. But her sisters should be starting to lay soon. The other pullet who is laying a blue egg is from Michael Jessie (Andalusian/EE) - she's all white w/ beard & pea comb. I'll keep her as I didn't get many pullets out of MJ's group & she looks like Daisy who'll be 6 yrs old in April!

As of now, I am planning to attend this year. I don't remember who is keeping track of what everyone has or wants, but I am interested in jersey giants, marans, EE, and possibly a couple of sussex. I would be willing to buy 4-6 of each, and would really like to end up with a couple of JG cockerels.

I know this is chickenstock, but I'd possibly be interested in an Australian shepherd puppy if someone came across one of those too. I think the only things I may have to bring so far may be some seeds, plants, and maybe turkey poults or BO or BO/RSL chicks. I do make some pretty nice wooden storage crates if anyone is interested in those. Mostly bushel size, but I can make them any size someone wants.
