I was looking over the document at the beginning, does anyone have any new stock to sell? I don't want to walk away from Chickenstock empty handed!!!

Pyxis, what are you charging for your Ayam Cemanis? Are the roosters friendly, generally? Or are they a more difficult bird? With 5 kids (some small) I can only keep the nicest roosters now.
i will have chicks of all sorts. Im getting a surprise box may 10ish

Sounds good! I'll let you know what I have when we get closer

Thank you! ACs are really interesting birds, they would make a nice talking point!

Oh boy....what kind of surprises are you expecting? Will they give you a list of the possibilities? I'd happily take any Marans or BLRWs off your hands....wouldn't want you to have too many chickens....

haha!! Im already at over 200. The surprise box from cackle could be 50 different breeds including Turkey's and water fowl of all sorts. I will show all that are for sale.

I hope / plan to; though I just candled the first turkey eggs I set on 3/12. Maybe they're still too early to check for development, but all I saw was clear eggs!

I have two new jakes - dominant one's a pure Narrigansett ("Jefferson") & 2nd jake, a Bourbon Red ; 3 hens, not related to the toms - Narri/Bourbon mixes (F1 "mom" & her daughters)
I've seen the Bourbon do his "deed" with one of the hens, but they're both still under 1 yr old, so I'm hoping they'll get the eggs fertile soon! Then, with this cold, several eggs have frozen.
But, as long as they're fertile by mid/end of April, I should have poults by Chickenstock. Last year, my one tom did a great job with two hens, and he was under a year too.
Not sure why these jakes haven't figured it out yet!
The poults are $12 each. And I brooded most of the turkeys with chicks last year, and they did fine. Once they were feathered out & quite bigger than the chicks, I did separate them, just to have more space & continue them on the higher protein feed.

Yes, I should have Catskill Homesteaders there too.

Hi I'm on the NY thread, but only just found my way over here, hoping to meet some of you in May, but not sure yet if I will be able to make it to my 1st Chickenstock this year, as I don't have my work schedule yet. I did just head over to your blog and Facebook page, and wanted to let you know I love your Catskill Homesteaders project, appreciate your values, great photos, and amazing range of colors - chickens and the eggs. 'Bella' and some of your pale grey color pullets are my favorites, just beautiful, certainly tempting when I read you may have some of your Catskill Homesteaders at Chickenstock. So far I have been very good at controlling any hints of 'morehens' disease, and we have stuck to our small coop and 4 pullets for several years now, but I'd love to have some different colored birds and eggs. Nice to know that so many of you would be able to 'help' (enable?) me, when the time is right!

Pyxis- Arent Ayam Cemanis...A smaller bird like Sumatras ?
I would get at least 2. ...My 2 Sumatra hens hang out together ..
Possibly because of their smaller size or because they are mother and Daughter

I talked to my neighbor lady today ..
She will be hatching the Barred Rocks , Buff Orpintons , and RIR s around May 02 .
They are Mennonites not Amish ...and they order their chickens from a hatchery .
So if any one wants some I would have to keep them for 3 weeks ..They would be straight run .
Maybe 4.00 ? Please let me know..Before MAY 02 if you are interested

Yep, they are a smaller bird. I can mark you down for two as well and see what I have at Chickenstock time :)
