NY chicken lover!!!!

Heading off to TS this morning. I'm out of Chick Starter, but I think I need to get them off that and start them on something more "adult". What should I get? Or should I get two bags, one of chick starter and one for the older chicks. They're all 4wks - 7+wks old.

You could keep them on starter or you could get them 'flock raiser' which is a feed good for all ages. Until I switched to Agway feed out of convenience I fed flock raiser all spring to all my chickens - hens, chicks, etc - just with oyster shell on the side for the layers.

Right now my mixed age coops are getting starter/grower and my laying age only coops are on layer.

. I live in between Plattsburgh and Albany.

Whoa! That's a pretty big range. I guess I do too.

Thanks! I wonder if there is an Agway near me. I love their garden section - I could kill two birds with one stone and get some flowers while I'm there too. One thing about living out in the country - the thought of having to go back out again! LOL Nothing is 5 minutes down the road anymore.

I only switched because the one near me (ballston spa) has free delivery if you order $200 worth (which I can do easily). I just call them and say 'bring me 10 bags of this and 5 of that' and I get it within a few days. Plus their pine shavings are a lot more for the same price as TSC (I can barely lift the agway bags but the TSC bags keep getting smaller and smaller). The food is a little bit cheaper, although I think only a dollar or two. Can't speak to the quality of the food although my local TSC has given me both moldy and powdery food that had to go back and I've never gotten that from agway. So far, anyways. :)

I couldn't find any actual Agways close by, they all seem to be either a building supply store or feed store that carries the Agway name as well maybe? I know there's a garden/pet center up the road a bit further from the TS I'm going to today, maybe I'll check there first before heading back to TS.

Nothing wrong with TSC, I just switched because I wasn't happy with MY TSC (maybe not enough chicken people shop there so the food gets old) + I like having my feed delivered and stacked up nicely in my barn. :)

Oh I know...I just like knowing what my options are, so I don't mind looking around elsewhere. If I didn't, how would I know I'd be getting the best deal.

Plus like I said, I need some plants and flowers before coming all way back home and I know this was another garden center as well. I'm so mad, I contacted someone on CL yesterday who was selling hibiscus plants for $3 in Albany. Emailed asking if they would be around before I headed up here yesterday afternoon. Never heard back until I got up here in Tully. Wish I could be planting hibiscus today but I guess I'll see if he has any next weekend before coming back up here.

Anyone happen to check out the photos I posted yesterday of the silkies? Any ideas on what they are or still too early?!?

Featherz do you happen to know how much Agway charges for a 25lb bag of Chick Starter/Grower? I just went to CountryMax and I have a feeling thats the last time I'll shop there. Very pricey. I just paid $23.75 for a 25lb bag. And of course I go to TS website to see what the difference is in their brands and all the Dumor and Purina 50LB BAGS are only $15/$16 bucks! Should have went there! Owell, live and learn! LOL
