NY chicken lover!!!!

I loved the pictures of all the silkies posted a few days back. I only have one beautiful white silkie from all the eggs hatched back in mid march. I'm not sure what it is. All the other chicks are obviously hens or roos. Should he be crowing by now if he is a roo?. I really am not sure how you tell whether a silkie is a boy or girl. I feel so embarrassed!!

We call it window lickerism where I come from! Lol...I hatch around 150 starting in March...keep everything that I need and sell all the rest only to realize I didnt sell much and kept most...panic and start to sell everything only to realize I left my self not much! I go through the same thing every year!

Next to a pullet BO, and a leghorn of course..and a SS at the end. What a pretty egg.
So glad she turned out to be a girl! What a pretty egg!

No need to feel embarrassed! Silkies are very hard to sex. I have one that hatched back on March 28th that I kept asking about. I'm about 99% sure she's a hen, but just started figuring that out myself. It's not like someone could have told me months ago.

Like I said ladies...I wasnt sure about mine until just recently and I am still on the fence about sam/samantha! Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex and until they crow or lay eggs, no one really knows. I love them all though.

I was at work at 2 - it was thundering and lightning, but by the time I left at 4 it was done. Seems like there was something here at home also, but no power loss!

we got hit pretty bad with the hard rain, but it didn't last long, chickes are back out roaming, rabbits are chilling, pacas up on the hill and the sheep are having a meeting by the barn
we sorely needed this rain and I'm thankful for it, until I have to go do chores and get my feet wet running around in the grass that is

We did. The storm came on fast and furiously, I don't like that type of storm. It hailed pretty bad too!
