NY chicken lover!!!!

Aria thanks for the wake up. (note to self no ducks).

Ditto for me! I'm going to have to buy my own plot of land and start a farm if I want to add any more animals to the mix here at our house on the hill as I like to call it. Wonder if my neighbor would sell me an acre of hers She's only got about 20 to spare, and then all my furry friends would be right across the street. LOL

Going to Tab's tomorrow to pick up another silkie. So excited to add another one to the mix!

Just let me know if you guys get sick of seeing pics of my chickens but they crack me up. This is the lavender orp pair I got from LadyLibra back in May or June sometime I believe. They are such a hoot. Always side by side and in this picture they are actually taking the same step together. Love these two...

I would love to invest in some ducks, but I don't think I'd be able to. That would mean another "coop", a place for water for them to swim in...I think my husband would kill me. I already informed him of the two silkies I'll be adding to the flock in the next couple of days and he was like MORE chickens?!? What do we need more for?!? I can only imagine what his thoughts would be on ducks...

Ducks don't need water to swim in....they just need a water container deep enough to get their beak fully under.

this is all you need for a pool. BTW the little ones are 16 weeks old this week and I got my 1st egg from one of them today! Quite a bit smaller than Penelope's this morning, but the same bluish color. Ohh, and it was in the pool

Water birth? Seems legit for a duck...

Lynzi - ducks don't need a pond or water even. The ALBC newsletter said even a bucket of water for them to play in would be enough. Of course you could just use a kiddie pool. That should be fine for three or four ducks. Not to mention the coop I described earlier would be sufficient for the same amount of ducks. I gave the newsletter to a friend but you might be able to find it online.

I admit is is tempting.

Rouens aren't big swimmers. They just need enough water to stick their heads in so they can clear out their nostrils. Mine have a kiddie pool, and enjoy it, but they'd be fine with big dishes or a bucket.

I never get tired of pics. I just don't have a good camera. You can post all the pictures you want.

I think the caption for the bottom pic should be... "you want us to swim in what?" or " Is this water sanitary?"
