dirty ducks. They were in there that day. 2 days old. The muddier the betterI think the caption for the bottom pic should be... "you want us to swim in what?" or " Is this water sanitary?"

Do you ever sell your duck eggs? I would like to introduce my youngest daughter to duck eggs and I don't want to drive to the albany co-op to get them.Rancher, I have muscovy ducks and they are laying fools. Way friendlier than other duck breeds, too. They were last year's ducklings and laid better than the chickens once they got on a roll. I couldn't weigh the eggs because the scale bottomed out they were so big. Tasty, too.
The processer was just here last weekend and I have 24 ducks in the freezer. However, I have 4 of the original adults that hatched out all the little ones this year and 12 youngsters that I will probably winter over for next spring. If you are going to hatch next spring we could work out a trade for a few young adults so you can try them out.
This is Hunk, the big drake who wags his tail like a puppy and likes to be petted.
This is Brownie and her batch of ducklings.
They are finally outside in the run with a tarp for a little protection until the chicken flocks are integrated and the ducks move into the small coop. My grandson saw a fox in the backyard yesterday so we are being very careful about security.
Forgot to add the muscovies don't make as much mess with their water and are fully feathered and ready to process at 8-9 weeks. They grow so fast it is scary.
So cute! I almost brought a duck home from the last tailgate....but I came to my senses. Seriously, what would I do with just ONE lonely duck?
well add more ducks of courseSo cute! I almost brought a duck home from the last tailgate....but I came to my senses. Seriously, what would I do with just ONE lonely duck?
Let me know if you have another over abundance of ducks eggs, I would purchase some to see how DD likes them. You are close and we could maybe meet up at TSC or something.I would sell duck eggs, but the remaining adult hens are broody again and the rest are in the freezer.
I would be in so much trouble if I came home with DUCKS! LOL We have been fighting off the canadian geese since the spring, but I think they finally got the message.I have quite a few young fuzzies, Adorovachick. No problem with being only and lonely.Maybe you have to come over and visit to get a lesson with power tools, see how a modest size coop was put together and fall in love with the youngest pair that survived their inept mother.![]()
