NY chicken lover!!!!

Got my silkie roo from Adoravachick today! I love this little guy, he is so cute!! Here are some pics. I placed him in the pen with my two other hens and they all got along, so I've kept them together. They seem quite happy, haven't heard any squawking, no pecking, no fighting. I also took the run off my other coop and placed next to my new coop I built so now they'll have that to hang out in during the day.

What a lovely roo you have there, If I don't say so myself...

He's such a sweetie pie and I'm glad he's going to a good home.

YAY! I am go glad Q-tip found a good home with ladies =). I really really didn't want him to end up at an auction - he's a good rooster just LOUD and PROUD. LOL.
X2!! Defianatley loud but and it's great because now I alway's know where the flock is as much as he crows. I really like him. He is great!!

I gave 2 hens away. One's back was soooo red from overbreeding, poor thing. And her friend had to go with her. Next day I found a dead chicken in the coop. I had cleaned her butt the night before and pushed things back inside, so I figure some egg laying problem got her. She was just 5 months old. Go figure.

Sumantras are back in the coop. Dumb birds. Don't they know they are supposed to live outside? 2 of the hens are laying where I can find the eggs (meaning right in the nest box. LOL)

I need a larger coop. I really really do. I am afraid to ask for more room tho, cuz I was only supposed to have 6 birds. (I don't know how many I do have right now, but I certainly have some mutiple of 6.)

Edited to add: I have 2 more broodies. I am NOT amused. It's too late in the season to hatch chicks. I gave them a total of 4 eggs. I hope they all hatch, cuz I need more birds.

I have two more broodies also, including one who just 'weaned' her chicks. Grrr.

Welcome to my nights, y'all. There are thirteen birds in this photo, only one of whom, my broody BO Mrs. Beasley (a tiny bit of whom can be seen behind the Easter Egger) actually belongs there. Apparently her presence has triggered a mass delusion in the rest of them, all this year's chicks, leading them to believe that they're still babies and need to be mothered. It's catching, too - my EE and Del from Rancher are both right up in the mix with the rest of them, and I routinely have to pull one or both out of Mrs. B's nest box, as they try to get in there to be mothered. One of my nightly chicken chores is now "relocate twelve birds to the roost where the silly things belong."
