NY chicken lover!!!!

Rancher my mailman as a young teen told me what college I got accepted to, I hadn't picked up the mail yet and he was like "congrats on Miami and stony brook! Which one are you going to choose?" I literally felt my jaw drop and ran home , I never realized how much they pay attention to what gets delivered etc.
My husband loves me because of my first two loves

lol when we first moved in together he gained weight very quickly, the running joke was that I fattened him up so no one else would love him. Funny part is now I am always watching what he eats because he recently got a borderline high cholesterol test.
My family does come first though so tab I would have to agree with you there...luckily they enjoy my hobbies.

When I got my letters two of the three colleges I applied to accepted me. Wish I could do that part of my life over.

I weighed 125 when we got married. I'm well past that now. DW is a very good cook and makes really good cookies. Christmas is a nightmare if you want to diet.

Reading the posts about renting give me the creeps...we rented our previous house out for 10 of the most stressful years of my life...
We always had a lease, but it made no difference. Twice we went to court to evict for non payment and won. Both times the renters declared bankruptcy & we never got payment.

One of them we read in the newspaper that 2 years later, had bought a house...we were flabergasted...how did they get a loan for a house, when we had the lien agains them? Who knows...

Finally, we sold the house, and it was sooooo great...no more anxiety about it...And yes, you wouldn't believe what people did to it.

We rented once to a single guy for 6 months. His employer gave us all kinds of recommendations. Well, he left in the middle of the night, never informed us he was leaving. We found out by accident a few days later. We went to do some work on the house, and found that he had turned off the electricity, & we had had heavy rains, so the sump pump in the basement didn't work...added to that he kept his dog in the cellar during the day. and yes, he pooped all over it, and all that poop was floating in 6 inches of water when we found it....

Besides, he never contracted for garbage pick up, and there was 6 months of garbage in the garage...I was furious...but we didn't know where he went so couldn't recover our loses....

My recommendation...sell that blasted house and breath a sigh of relief...
On a different note, marquisella...what kind of birds lay the eggs in your avatar? They are beautiful.

I can't argue with that. I've had bad landlords and neighbors. I have friends who have rentals and I hear all kinds of stories.

Thanks for the feed tip . Do you give your chickens other food ? besides Layer ? They may not be getting enough calicium . I over did the supplement one day ..they did not lay hardly at all the next day .. Or have you changed anything about their pen roost or laying box ? I moved the nest box one day they didnt lay much that day either .
Or are they eating the eggs ? any sign of leftover yolks or hiding them somewhere ? Chickens will eat a broken open egg ..Just some food for thought ..

Gramma, in addition to J and J Feeds in La Fayette, there is also Lee's Feeds in the Valley section of Syracuse. Lees sells Blue Seal, Jand J sells their own or Purina. I have been buying Purina Flockraiser lately for 17.01. That is the final cost.

Rancher, we had the same mail man for many years in Syracuse, and he was always lovely, we still see each other out and about like maybe the LaFayette Inn IN THE DINING SECTION, on a Friday night, it's always nice to see him. The mailman before him came to our house about 7:30 pm because he couldn't get it out of his mind that the mail had not been taken in from the previous day by our retired widow neighbor next door. He was worried that she could be In need of help. We have had super mail men, but as I write this it does occur to me that perhaps it is not so pleasant to work in the PO itself, as those folks don't seem to be as happy...

I've been experimenting with not eating wheat products per the Wheat Belly book. It makes it very obvious that Americans are totally dependent on wheat, and don't seem to use much else. I tried the bisquick that is labeled gluten free to make biscuits, of course using my eggs. They are an amazing color of yellow that make butter look like a washed out pale yellow. Very strange, but they tasted ok.

Stoney, how are you liking the pellet gun discussion? Is it as good as shotguns and rifles?
Thanks for the feed tip . I guess what I am looking for is a feed mill ..do they have these any where any more ?

Haven't changed a thing that I can think of. Still the same feed, still the same amount of free ranging, I can't figure it out. Anything I've done with them, I've don't with the silkies and the silkies are still laying. No signs of broken eggs either. I got one egg Monday from my lavender hen, but that was the first in over a week. Haven't seen another since. Just so weird. They were on such a regular schedule of having eggs in their nest boxes every afternoon for us and now nothing.

J and J sells their own brand, called J and J, but the mill itself is in some other place, I don't know where. I wanted a pelletized higher protein feed that they could all eat, so I went. With the flock raiser, or have bought game bird feed.

Have to apologize for the strange sentence structure and capitalization, the iPad made me do it. Repeatedly.
