What do you consider huge?

That's a good question...9 hens 4 roos. I also have 5 Black Ameraucanas hens where I'll be making more splits. It is the largest of my breeder pens...so "huge" compared to my entire flock/breeder pens.

hhhmmmmm I might like a few lavendar Ameraucanas....

Sue, you definitely want some.

Hi!Hope everyone made out ok with the storm. We got hit pretty good but kept power so it wasnt so bad lol.

The lav ameraucanas are so pretty! I have bantam lavs from John Blehm. Just love them! Mine have been laying really well the last few weeks. I really wish I could hatch some though, but I have to wait till I get some broodies. I REALLY need an incubator lol, although, my husband probably would not be too happy about that!

Keep an eye on CL you never know what I post. Last year I gave away a Lav roo from Chickenstalker. I also gave away some BR chicks too. If I have broodies I just let them hatch and give the chicks away. You never know. Not always but sometimes.

I've been eyeballing the Brinsea 190. I just don't have the guts yet to hit the "buy" button! My chicken addiction would be so much worse if I got one. I'm still working out of a cheapo styrofoam bator. How do you like your Bantam Lavs? I love the LF I have, and have been tossing around the idea of getting bantams too!

Yes mine would be worse too if I had an incubator! The bantams are great, so pretty of course, but very nice dispositions too. Very friendly, even the roos. I was debating on whether to get a few LF lol. I know I will be hatching a bunch for myself ,whenever my hens go broody, so I am sure I will have too many! If the chickenstock happens upstate this summer I really want to go!

Let's swap a few.

You should go to the swap. Kristen is so awesome, I think we'll all have a great time. I would love to host one here in Central NY...I just don't have the space (yet) for a huge turnout. I'm hoping to go to the PA one if it happens again.

I've asked the local poultry club, Fingerlakes Poultry Club, why they dont have a swap.

I think they would if I would organize it.

Although its called "Fingerlakes" they meet in Verona.

Anyone in Central, NY want to join? I'm the only one from east of Syracuse that goes to meetings.

Maybe, if there is anyone else that would like to get involved, we could get a swap going in the spring.

I was wondering if we could meet in a public park, or something along those lines...instead of at someone's house. I have been tempted to join a Poultry Club...hmmm. Tell me more about it and what would be required of me.

The club meetings are at someones house because no one else wants to host it. But if we had a swap, I think we could do it anywhere. I was thinking of the Coop ext. in Oriskany. I use to work there, andthey let people do things for free. There is a nice Pavillion that would work with a roof & open sides, or even reserve a room inside with bathroom, kitchen, etc.

If anyone wanted to join the club, I think the next meeting is in March. Let me know if interested, and I will let you know. I think dues are $10 a year, cheap. They put on 2 shows each year at the Syracuse Fairgrounds.

Is Mary Jo on this list? She has participated in the shows.....
