Actually DH told me after I posted that he would actually like hatching eggs in the spring after our hatch that is running right now. Does anyone know of anyone in NY with blue or lavender orpingtons?

If you find some Lav Orps, let me know!

I know of one woman in canastota. At first she had problems with her roo, now she has a new roo (black I think) so the babies would be blue/black splash. Her hens aren't laying good right now, though. I was hoping to find another person just to have more options.

I do but she won't part with anything. As far as I know. She used to be on here but last e-mail I sent she didn't answer. She has a teenage dau. so I know she has a computer. I'll be doing some Lavender Americanas as soon as I set up a place for my roo and hen. I have a small crate that will be great for a trio but it's winter and I can't build it now. Gotta wait. Will have eggs probably late spring.

Sorry

DH really would like some of those being that that breed is his favorite if you would be interested in parting with some eggs when you get them. And maybe by then I'll find some of the orp. eggs too.

What do you consider huge?

That's a good question...9 hens 4 roos. I also have 5 Black Ameraucanas hens where I'll be making more splits. It is the largest of my breeder pens...so "huge" compared to my entire flock/breeder pens.

Well ok, I just got the lave roo but a hen that looks like an Amer. She's a cross with another roo and lav color. She's from Chickenstalker or the roos were so I'll go from there. I don't intend to show so it's not big deal to me. Long as they look the part and lay the part, I don't care.

I do have an EE pullet I may give up. She's ugly and I got a incu full of chicks so they may be pullets. Well not FULL , but some. I just want the colored eggs for now. Dels are my specialty.

Anyone know of a friendly "white" egg layer. Don't want leghorn terminals. Something dual would be nice. All I got is browns and some folks won't buy egg cuz of that. I know it's ignorant but hey the customer is always right. Right?
