the other 4 eggs are rockin n Rollin!!

Congrats. Hope all turns out well.

I am very sad about the state of mail and package delivery. Talk of eliminating the mail deliveries really bothers me. The mail has been part of this country since the beginning, Route 1 is The Post Road! Neither rain nor snow nor..., the pony express. And now Saturday will just cancel the route. When I was a kid, at Christmas time the mail was delivered twice a day. Mail was valued. Now, even important things, like eggs and chicks just have to wait, and perhaps not make it.

At my old house we had a knock on the door one early evening, and it was our mailman. He was worried about our next door neighbor who had not collected her mail, and he couldn't stop worrying about her. I think the world is eliminating some of the important fabric of our country.

And then there is the phone directory...

I must confess Pet Semetary was his scariest book. At least for me. The guy is definitely mental.
For me it was Salem's Lot. I was working at a Price Chopper as a cashier(I was 17) and it had these big windows. In the book vampires would scratch the windows to be let in. I could not face the windows in the store for a few weeks in case I would see a vampire wanting to come in. Sheesh!!

Glass, contact your local congressman. The change will need an act from congress. If everyone raises a stink they won't do it(Ihope)

PS The PO just called! My eggs are here!!! Now to see what condition they are in......5 days from Ohio.

No change in the eggs from last night. Still just one with a hole broke through, I can its little beak moving around. The others are still rocking. Today is day 21. I will be over the moon if all five hatch out! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Quote: I shipped eggs to Ohio Priority. 10 days later they arrived in a plastic garbage bag dripping & smelling...the box was crushed & every eggs broken...Priority tracking only tracks when they accept the package & when the package arrives at its final PO. Nothing in between. THey say Priority should take 2 to 3 days, but there is no guarantee.

I just shipped chicks down to Alabana, express. took 2 days. lost 2 chicks, but I sent extras so it was ok. They do not guarantee express for anything alive or anything that is breakble. My PO pointed out to me where it is printed on the receipt...If it takes longer than 3 days, they will refund your shipping cost, but no guarantee on the birds.

The reason they don't guarantee live animals is because they contract with Fed Express to ship lives. Since flights may be cancelled, etc. it is out of their hands. So they won't guarantee it.

I have 3 pips now! Both Marans eggs and possibly a Delaware, columbian rock or Sussex it's yellow anyway! Lol. This takes sooo long! I can't get the humidity over 50% I'm hoping they don't shrink wrap :/

I am on my first hatch and have been having trouble with humidity too (the air in this house is so dry from the heaters, fireplace, and basement dehumidifier.) I think I read somewhere that you can lightly mist the eggs with a sprayer or put sponges in with them or put a layer of damp papertowel over/under them. Perhaps experienced hatchers will comment.

My house is very dry also. I have 3 wet paper towels and a wet washcloth plus 2 small dishes with water in them. Hopefully they will be fine I'm just nervous cause this is my second hatch and my first was a complete failure :(

I'm looking to set my first bunch of eggs next weekend so they will hopefully hatch about the same time I'm supposed to be getting chicks in...
I'm nervous...especially with this humidity thing....ugh
