NY chicken lover!!!!

Were they still viable after that trip? Mine are coming from Ohio.

I am not sure yet, hopefully they candle at 7 days and have something developing. (Saturday 3/16)
Priority Mail is most places 2-3 days ..There are a few places down south that it takes longer as it goes through a extra distribution center ..

I shipped from NY, they sent it to Georgia??? then to TN. Little round-a-bout way to get there.

You're kidding?! Already?! Virile fella, huh?

Can I ask a question? Keep in mind, I'm clueless!

What would happen, if after a day, the pipped eggs are not making any progress and you "helped" ? Is this dangerous to the chicks? I am guessing it is, or else more people would try to "help". Just curious, though... Thanks.

TOB

It seems like every time I "helped" a chick out there were problems and it eventually died. Sad.

Caught up! Now off to the barn.

I also am caught up and back to to school to drive bus...

Got down to the barn and found Miss Frizz dead in the nest box. She always overnighted in the box instead of the roost. It looked like her neck was broke and when I went to take her out her foot was partly stuck under the divider between the nest holes. There was a slight gap and she must have got her toes stuck then panicked.

I am very sad about the state of mail and package delivery. Talk of eliminating the mail deliveries really bothers me. The mail has been part of this country since the beginning, Route 1 is The Post Road! Neither rain nor snow nor..., the pony express. And now Saturday will just cancel the route. When I was a kid, at Christmas time the mail was delivered twice a day. Mail was valued. Now, even important things, like eggs and chicks just have to wait, and perhaps not make it.

At my old house we had a knock on the door one early evening, and it was our mailman. He was worried about our next door neighbor who had not collected her mail, and he couldn't stop worrying about her. I think the world is eliminating some of the important fabric of our country.

And then there is the phone directory...

I was doing some cleaning in this office and found my folder with research papers I had to write for a business and I did the PO. Point being I know far to much. Keep in mind I worked for the PO.

I will admit that it's sad, but what to me that is sad is the disconnect the internet has done to our society. Though I must confess it also has helped me in that I get to connect with the folks here. No one in this house is into chickens as much as I.

The PO has wasted far to much money for years. Then when the government got out of supporting it, they couldn't make it on postage sales alone. They were dependent on government funding. Just like our schools and other things. It's that gimme , gimme atitude. Now that funding is being cut, schools can't afford to pay for all that they have.

it is hard to compete with free. Years ago every bill I paid was mail USPS. All of my bills are now paid online for free. Same with many other folks. This forced the USPS to have to concentrate on package shipment. And there is tough competition in that area. And frankly the USPS isn't great at it. But recent changes are trying to rectify that.

I forget who brought it up, but this saturday delivery hub bub is nothing new. I think it is the 3rd time in PO history saturday delivery has been dropped. Obviously it was always reinstated when the budget crisis was over. Will they ever reinstate it this time? Who knows. Times are different now

The post office plan is packages ...Mon - Sat ..Regular Mail - Mon - Fri .
Who ever though this up is not thinking straight .
Someone has to come in & sort & deliver the packages ..So they would do a route ...to deliver packages but not mail ...
Definitely A Flawed PLan

You have my sympathy. I too have lost a chicken to a similar situation. If' only I had taken the time to check more often.

It all comes down to money. It will cost less to pay fewer people to deliver packages. Only Express/overnight and Priority will be delivered on Saturday and that is not that many packages. They will most likely not work a full day.

Hi, guys (and gals)! Can you all please vote for my chicken coop for the $500 reward along with 480 lbs. of chicken feed? Its the blue/green chicken coop with the door open and the chickens grazing in front of it. The entry is in the name of Mikayla J. To get to this, you will need to: go to your facebook account, type in Purina Poultry in the search box, find the post they made for the coop contest and click on it, then click "vote for me" and find my described coop. Thanks SO much!

Could you help a friend out. this is for Chickenperson. BYC member. If you have a FB account. I don't.

Thanks Rancher.
