NY chicken lover!!!!

Quote: I got your hints, but I never had any thing to trade. The chick hatched and its blue birchen. I'll have to see how many I get to hatch in the next month or so. Idon't get many eggs out of that pen because the pullets are young yet. When I see I have some good examples of Birche without any copper color, I'll let you know.

Hey! I just joined as well and I'm in the lovely little town of Mexico

I've just got my first little flock of chickies, 10 Red sex links, 2 bantams (from the TSC bantam bin lol..) and 2 Amerarcauna's, 2 Black Australorps and 2 Speckled Sussex from Deaton's in fulton. I must say... they are addicting! Our girls are only a week old so I have some time to get our coop ready (a rehabbed outbuilding/old house) but man... this snow... it really needs to GO AWAY! Lovely to meet you all! Perhaps when the weather warms we could meet and brainstorm chicky ideas :)
Hi, nice to hear from another in the area! I'm not far outside Fulton. Is Deaton's a place to get chicks? All I am aware of is TSC.
I would adore having colored eggs after looking at the Marans, Americaunas and other colored egg layers!!
Do any of you in the Oswego, Fulton, Syracuse area sell chicks that lay colored eggs?

It's Deatons Agway, it's pretty much like TSC just smaller. Their chicks come from the same hatchery as TSC.

Forgive my ignorance, the only Deaton's Agway I find in a Google search is in Pulaski. The only Agway I knew of in Fulton was by the railroad tracks on Broadway, but it closed years ago & now has a collision place there... could you point me at the right place?

The only one I know of is Pulaski, sorry. There really isn't many places around to buy chicks but you could try Craigslist. There is some ameracauna chicks for sale in Calcium (wherever that is) also I think I seen some in Kirkville.

ah crap, had fulton on the brain and yes, it is Deaton's in Pulaski lol... I found deatons to have a much larger variety but they go quick. Yesterday they still had about 25 Amerarcauna's, RIR's, Black Australorp, Buff Orpingtons and I think one more. They're for the most part 2.70 a piece, which is .29 less than TSC. Plus they've got good prices on non-medicated/medicated feed.

Welcome aboard Gypsy Blue! Congrat's on your nicely assorted new flock.

Good luck getting the coop retooling done. This weather has been a real downer. I keep telling myself that we really do need to get these lakes back up to full, but it's gettin' old!

I am going to ask...is this a game? I have seen you post random words and have been wondering...please fill me in!

As far as I know it's just a way of marking your last post. At least for me it is. When you log on again it takes you to the last place you posted and you don't have to reread. In this case there are 27 or so since the last time I posted.

I can't read all those. I just do a quick peruse and keep going.
