Stony is this your blog or a story you wrote that someone shared on their blog? Sorry I really don't know much about blogs and how they work, etc. I tried starting one a while back, but never got too far with it.

Where are you located Pharm?? I just ordered babies, I'm looking for a hen or two now that I'm down to one silkie hen and will have to wait a while for these chicks that I ordered to start laying.

Has anyone caught on to how many chickens I'm going to be up to after this past year I kept saying No way will I ever have more than 5-6 chickens! ?? LOL I'll be up to 11 or if I can find one or two more hens - not including the ducklings that I should be getting a call about any day now!

I could never make the 4hr trip there and back in one day. I dread doing it when I go to CT every other month or so to visit family. And driving that far with two kids under 7 in the car? Pffft! Not worth the aggravation! This is why I just paid $6.50 a chick and $40 to ship them from CT! LOL

Time is money, for sure. I don't blame you one bit!

I just went over to that thread and it does seem some people have some silkie hens for sale, however thats just too far for me to travel in one day. If it takes me 4hrs to get to CT I'm sure it takes just as long, if not longer to get to the LI area. Its too bad I wasn't searching for these two weeks ago when I DID have a trip to CT planned. I could have picked something up while I was down there. Owell, everything happens for a reason a guess! 

The DNA sex testing experiment sounds interesting.

Scored another $50 Omlet Eglu! Found it on Craigslist about 40min away. Older version and a little rougher shape than the one I got last year, but still complete setup. The guy got it a few years ago from the 4-H at State Fair when they upgraded.

Lynzi---too bad you are so far away. I have four blue silkie babies in the brooder right now. They are two weeks old.

I'd buy one! I'm totally in love with my one white silkie. She's about 3 weeks old.
