Here's the crazy big egg from my leghorn next to a buff orp egg and in my hand. No blood or anything!

And here's what my silkie left for me today, on her first day back from winter break. It looks like the egg folded on itself during development, and one side is completely flat:

There is a listing on Craigslist right now with a lot of stuff, I'm broke so nothing fun for me.

I seen that listing too, in Skaneletes/Elbridge area. Brooder boxes, nice chicken transport boxes, and lots of feed/water supplies.
Can't remember which of our fellow horse/chicken owners had the rabbit water bottle in the brooder, but I put one in mine. Had to get creative with a wire coat hanger to hang it inside of a steel stock tank. Put it in a week ago, then grabbed a couple chicks this week and showed them how to use it. Now a few are really drinking from the bottle! I still have a regular waterer for them to drink from, but hoping they can soon all use the hanging bottle instead. Water would stay cleaner, although the bottle does drip a bit. I put a plastic container lid under it to keep the rest of the bedding dry.

Morning! Woke up all congested and with a big headache. I'm kicking myself for signing up for overtime at work. I'm thinking about asking my coworker if he still wants it because he signed up too.

On a happy note DH told me he got a fan for our LG.

Question for you all...See that little egg in grammas pic above? I have been getting one regularly now from the terrorist coop for the last two weeks or so. I cant figure out if its from one of the br, rir or red sexlinks. Never happened before. Anyone know why this is occurring? I found only two yolks out of the 6 I cooked up for the cheeps. I would really like to know why this is happening and if I should cull the bird if I figure out who it is.

Has anyone else been seeing all the rude and derogatory responses on here that people are posting in response to others' questions? Not in this thread, of course, but on the site in general? Like when I got attacked by someone over saying that Sevin was an okay way to get rid of mites, or a post I just witnessed where one member went off on other for no reason? One of the people I know in the real world told me they stuck to just the duck section for just that reason, and I'm beginning to see why...

Anyway, in other news, I got a HUGE egg today! I'm going to have to take a picture, it's ridiculously big. Larger than even the eggs my pekins used to lay me. I'm hoping tomorrow is going to be nice like they say, because I need to work on the coop I'm building. Today was terrible weather-wise here, all slushy and snowy and cold, ugh.

I don't normally stray from our little family here, unless I'm looking for specific info.

If I want to quote just a part of someone's post, how do I do that? I've tried to highlight it and hit quote but it doesn't work. I'm computer illiterate, so please bear with me.

It may not always be from the same hen. They may take turns having a mix up in the egg making process.

Hit quote first, but before you hit submit you can highlight and delete the parts you don't want.

that is an awful lot of fart eggs Pharm. Fart eggs can happen either when a hen starts laying for the 1st time or when they restart laying for the year. It happens because the egg passes through too quickly and never gets to fully form. The few farteggs I have opened were all white. I have 6 from last year dried out as decorations on a shelf. Cute lil buggers. I doubt it is always from the same hen. If it is...she will probably stop laying all together making it even easier to figure out

We got a visit from a state trooper last night. Doorbell rang around 10:30. Our neighbor's house was broken into yesterday. They took some jewelry and nothing else. They obviously knew exactly what they were after. They left everything else. Scary because we normally leave our doors unlocked. They are looking into people why may be familiar with their house.
That kind of thing just doesn't happen in this area.

We need more guard chickens.

Rude? Derogatory responses? On other threads? Alert the media!!!! Nawh, I don't go anywhere but here because I don't have time to do the deep breathing exercises to lower my blood pressure when I venture off this thread. It got so bad on the Ameruacana thread that someone started a thread just for Lavender breeders called "Lavenders UNITE" or some such. I love one of the lines in Stony's signature line about how he can't believe people take something typed in a forum so personally. Cuz people do and that is what starts fights.

I like our little community here. I like the fact (and participate in) that people on this thread take the time to type out answers for newbies, even tho it has been said 55 times earlier in the thread instead of admonishing new people to "use the search feature". Folks on here, who know how to use the search, even find the previously posted and put a link in their reply for the newbie. I type fast and hate waiting for searches, so I just type it out again. Everyone has their own way of helping and no one gets snarky. I like the support we give each other for non-chicken related events happening in each other's lives.

I don't own this space, they let me participate rent free, so I keep to the rules of use. I do LOVE how the software ****'s certain words. Makes the place a little less hostile and more family friendly.

Pyxis, I hope that no one is giving you a hard time. You have always been friendly and kind. I can see no reason to be rude to you. There is a way to complain to the moderators/owners. I have forgotten exactly how to do it, but if you need to know, I will retrace my steps and PM you the info on doing so.

You do not need money to have fun. There is a fiber/yarn thing going on at Beaver Lake today. But I understand broke. Car repair $875.
