NY chicken lover!!!!

Was just at the feed store, Lynzi, I saw you baby ducklings, soooo cute. And they had geese and turkeys. There were two kinds of heritage breed turkeys and one of the bred-to-be-huge turkeys. The ducks were taking turns standing in the water dish. Sooo cute. Some of these could be in my future. But not the immediate future...this weekend is put up the trim on the coop, then it can be sided...we will need them to bask in its finished state for a while.

Attn. anyone within driving distance of Averill Park, my hens are laying up a storm and i hate to see these eggs not being incubated. I have alot of Brahma project eggs, these are color patterns that are being developed. Buff Laced Brahma, Silver Laced Brahma, Gold Laced Brahma, Light Brahmas, as well as blue laced wyandottes. All the Brahmas were hatched by me and raised to egg laying size. you can google images of these birds. These eggs were purchased on ebay or BYC auctions, many for 15-20 dollars an egg. they are beautiful birds. I am in the middle of a construction project, clearing land and building my new house, I do not have time to incubate these eggs rt now and am offering them to anyone who is willing to drive to pick them up free of charge. If you are interested PM me......Tom

Averill Park..it looks like you are not far from Albany ..about 12 miles ..Too far for me 175 miles ..
I can Dream !

Morning All,

Hoping for rain today, I got big plans to rearrange a little girl's bedroom. A friend of mine in CT brought up this news of the Cicadas again. What are the chances of seeing any of these things here in the Syracuse area?? I think my kids would get a kick out of it. Might have to make a trip to CT. LOL

The Cicadas come out here in august I think ..Noisy ...metal clicking sound ..
I dont see too many live ..just their shed skeletons on trees

Stony kill would you sell any runners? My son has two female fawns he wants to breed and show. I'm new to ducks I got them for him.
Also I have a EE who, since its been nice out wont eat her layer feed and only wants to free range. We don't have a top on our run and she figured out how to get out. It wouldn't bother me except now she has hat 2 shelless eggs and 2 shells that were very thin. Could it be from not eating her feed and not getting what she needs? Does anyone know or have had this happen?

I'm coming down to NYC on June 4th until the 6th. If anyone wants eggs, etc. & is on my way....let me know. My Lavndar Orps & Coronation Sussex are laying, and I should hve some dark Marans eggs. I won't be setting anymore by then.

I am also liquidataing all my white & black Silkies. I have some very nice white cockerels whose sire is a Catdance roo. Also I have a lot of Coronations & lav orp sexed chicks.

If interested email me privately. I'll be taking the Thruway from Verona all the way.

She's a golden wyandotte. For an older girl I'm quite impressed that she's given us 5 jumbo sized eggs a week! She's been a great girl too and just LOVES it when I dig up worms to give her as a treat. She's not as friendly as the chicks but is starting to warm up to me.

Well thanks Glass, I'll be stopping there after I pick up my son from school. I was sitting around today waiting for a call, but I never got anything. Lol

So I watched poo and how the new cochin bantams acted and they seemed fine and healthy. So I tried putting them in with the other bantams I have in bigger brooder and the two groups didn't get along really. I think one of the cochins maybe a roo cause any time an oeg came over he would keep them back from the other two. If he wasn't watching the oegs would mess with the other 2. The cochin didn't mind the white bantams i have in there then again there is a white cochin and the white banties wasn't challenging him at all. The one oeg got his rear handed to him trying to push the cochin around well the cochin got behind him in the air and grabed his neck feathers i thought i was going to have to get in the brooder. So since i'm leaveing for work took the cochins back out. Will take them out side tomorrow if nice and let them try to get along more out there. my rabbit cage is too big to put in the brooder to introduce them that way. The cochins are 4 weeks the banties 3 weeks. Lmao as i type this the white bantie that crows is up on top roost crowing but he didn't try to take on the cochin like the oegs did. And to think the wife wanted me to just let them all stay in brooder together over night. I don't think i'd have any oegs by the end of night if i did that. I like that this cochin protects his own but i just hope he intergrates better with my other two groups and protects them from stuff like he's doing for his other 2 cochins. Wife asked what i will do if they all don't get along. Told her time for another coop then. I thought she was going to kill me but since it's for her little sumo wrestler cochins she didn't say anything.

Well off to get ready for work hope i don't have to work over tonight i want to be up early and try these chickens together again. Maybe i'll leave the "roo" cochin in little brooder as the other two get ok with the banties.

If she just started laying or relaying could be that. Or it could be lack of calcium. oyster shells help with that. That's what I've read i have no personal experience on it though. Can try googleing "no shell on chicken egg" or something along that line.
