NY chicken lover!!!!

With my ducklings looking more like ducks these days, I really want to let them out but I'm sooooo afraid they're going to take off and I won't be able to find them. What do you all suggest? Should I get a large "run" or a pen to keep them confined or should I not worry about it and let them out?!? I do have a pen we used last summer for the bunnies. I can always put that up around their house and take the run off for now. Give them some more space until I can expand that run with another crate or two. I'm just torn as to what to do with these guys. My goal is to have them free range.

I don't know what to say. I only get ducks that don't fly

in 24 hours Pearl has laid 4 eggs... should I worry? she is the only one old enough to lay. They are the same color, just the light angle. Her eggs are almost pink some days.

also,

One week, hopefully the little one survives the hatch.

And my Photo Friday:

4 eggs?!?!? Wow, I don't care what anyone says about silkies and them not being good layers, but I had more silkie eggs last year than orp eggs. I can't say that I ever got 4 from her though in 24 hours, that seems like a lot.

I've got a few more bunnies you can have. Bold as brass those things. I started scaring them away. Come right out during the day like it's nobodies business. I half expect them to follow me for treats like the chickens do.
Haha. I should send you my grandmothers hassespfeffer recipe. She came over from Germany when she was 17, and she is a VERY good cook, as long as you like good german food.

that is why I'm worried. She didn't lay any eggs for about a week about two weeks ago, I floated the eggs and they were all flat on the bottom so I know they are fresh.

Evening all. This heat has made even the chickens not want to leave from under the coop to go out. Air advisory down here which my lungs already told me about. Went out twice to check on everyone and give them some fresh cold water. I want snow. The silkie chick is in its new home. My dh will take care of the other one in a bit. He does it quick and clean so thats his job.

I have a broody silkie on 5 eggs now. She went from cuddly lovey to the demon broody spawn from you know where. Poor Legolas and the other two hens just peek inside the pop door before actually setting foot in there. Sometimes I have to shove them in to lock them up while telling miss demon to cut it out. She has made it very clear that she will maim or kill anyone or anything that even remotely looks like coming within 10 yards of her eggs. I thought my other silkie sassy witchypants was bad but Eowyn has her beat! Anyways, I am hoping these eggs hatch as this will be the first for this breeding group.

Putting the rir tots in with the divas tonight after dark. Hope all goes well. They really need to be in the coop as they are getting so big.

Stony--cute pic of the kids and their mom.
Silkies are the next breed of Chickens I want to get. I think they are so adorable.
