Evening all. This heat has made even the chickens not want to leave from under the coop to go out. Air advisory down here which my lungs already told me about. Went out twice to check on everyone and give them some fresh cold water. I want snow. The silkie chick is in its new home. My dh will take care of the other one in a bit. He does it quick and clean so thats his job.

I have a broody silkie on 5 eggs now. She went from cuddly lovey to the demon broody spawn from you know where. Poor Legolas and the other two hens just peek inside the pop door before actually setting foot in there. Sometimes I have to shove them in to lock them up while telling miss demon to cut it out. She has made it very clear that she will maim or kill anyone or anything that even remotely looks like coming within 10 yards of her eggs. I thought my other silkie sassy witchypants was bad but Eowyn has her beat! Anyways, I am hoping these eggs hatch as this will be the first for this breeding group.

Putting the rir tots in with the divas tonight after dark. Hope all goes well. They really need to be in the coop as they are getting so big.

Stony--cute pic of the kids and their mom.

I have some white silkies, 3 pullets an several cockerels, that were spoken for, but now because of the hot weather, they don't want to ship them..so I will be bringing them to the show in Syracuse on Sunday for sale. I am selling them because I am going to concentrate on other colors, so the whites have to go.
If anyone is interested, please pm me. They are all out of a very nice cockerel I bought last fall from Catdance Silkies. They are about 3-4 months old so should start laying in the fall. Nice show/breeding quality. Pullets are $25, cockerels $10. Buy all 3 pullets, free cockerel.

This is what happens when you talk smack about the silkies Rancher! LOL

I do NOT want to work today......ughhhhhhh I need a vacation!

Me too. Of course I don't have a "job" work , but I have been working a lot lately.

Yesterday DW hosted a rehearsal dinner and that meant cooking. Steak Tacos, spanish rice, fruit salad and strawberry short cake for desert. Three kinds of Ice tea. Moving tables and chairs.

Today at school. Last day for soup and salads. Lots of dishes though I didn't work too hard.

Tomorrow working in the kitchen for the wedding.

PLUS all the chicken chores. They need cleaning bad. Still everything is wonderful.

Wow Sounds like you two have busy in the kitchen! I can't remember the last time I had strawberry shortcake! That sounds good! Cleaned my coops yesterday - Thought I was going to die in the heat trying not to breath in any of their filth! It was so gross. Not to mention all the mud that was in the run, I found ants all over the big girls coop! Cleaned that thing out good, powdered the whole coop in sevin, laid fresh pine shavings down AND I even wasted half a bag of mulch in their run to soak up all that mud!!! At least it's clean now and smells fresh!

They're legs are a LOT cleaner too! There had to be 3 inches of mud up there after all the rain we got. Flies were gone as soon as the mulch went down.
