NY chicken lover!!!!

new broody born lil ones. Mama is on the floor right now calling them down. This is a rare case where I will help if needed. My boys have the stuff! And my girls know how to get it done! All her own eggs laid over a 2 week period. Looks like a 100% hatch as I don't see any whole eggs.

Awwwww how cute Stony! What are the grayish ones? Love the coloring on those!

Here are some more pics of the ducks I just took with my good camera.
Any signs on what I have as far as any drakes?

I'm not familiar with your breed of dck so I'm no help...

The gray ones will grow up to be Blue's. They are all Sumatra's. Blacks and Blues

oh, and it is 12. I just took them out for her.

Hi! Welcome too. I only found this a few weeks ago myself. At this time, we don't have Blackhead in Steuben County. I live just outside of Corning and I called our county office and that was what I was told. I raise my chickens and turkeys together. I was also told that Cayenne Pepper helps keep it away. Honestly, I have no idea if it's true but occasionally I liberally sprinkle everyone's food, just to spice it up.

Today is the first day I have ever heard anyone mention Delaware's. I just love mine. They are so calm and lay such large eggs.

Well so much for my eggs in the bator! Woke up this morning to temp in their being down to 60! So I'm freaking out wondering why, it's plugged in but the incubator is off! WTH so I take the plug out, move it over to the plug my washing machine is plugged into and I see the GFI tripped on THAT outlet! But it's weird because it's not like there was no power in that room, I was able to turn the light on no problem. And the plug that the incubator was in isn't even a GFI or on the same wall! UGH I'm so mad. These eggs are probably goners aren't they? I started that laundry last night which means these eggs went without heat for at least 8-10 hours.

Don't give up on them!!!! I once accidentally took 15 day in fertile eggs from a broody and they only hatched 2 days over what should have been the original hatch date!!!
