NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm in the same boat. I have the 6 eggs under Phyllis right now that are on day 21 today. The chick under my EE hatched early, and the ones in the bator hatched early as well so this is my first time having eggs go the full 21 days. I'm a little nervous and I keep going outside to check on her haha kills me that I'm at work and cant right now :(Sorry about your eggs in the incubator by the way...that's really too bad. I think you need a hygrometer, I bought one for $8 on amazon that told me the temperature and humidity and it worked great.

Lol I know, I keep going up to her pen and listening for noise but I don't hear anything. So I'm getting the nervous. You would think all the cheeping the silkies do next door to them would help!

I'll look for that hygrometer. I don't have any eggs to hatch so I'm not in a rush, ordering one will work and keep me from having to bring my kids to a store!

I am hoping that one day I can manage it enough to have a child of my own. We will see, the root of my troubles are genetic and the doctors told my aunt for 12 years it wouldn't happen for her and she now has two beautiful girls.
I hope the best for you and hope you get some kids of your own when you are ready for them.

Ok so i was out in coop haveing all the big birds outside i desided to bring the chickens i got from tab and my small one from ohio out into the coop. They huddle in corner while i'm in there. I tryed treats still didnt want to come around so i let the other chickens back in and toss treats around. My rooster comes in... I dont think he likes the new ones. He would walk over to them in between the girls and little ones . He would stretch his wing down to floor then start strutting sideways/scraping. I didn't know what he was planning so i wacked him in back to stop it. he did for a few min but then did it again at which point i desided big ones outside. Is that an attack warning or a mateing warning? It seemed like it was mainly doing it to the frizzle i got from tab wich is the closest to size of my other birds.

I believe it depends on the doctor some say you can't some say you can, and some say they should be removed first. I wish you the best.

JLaw, my Silkie roo does that to all my hens, sort of "dances" for them and that's how they know he's going to try his best to mate with them. So they run LOL

Yes, that is a mating dance. So he likes them, really likes them.
To be safe, I keep my GLW roo out of the coop at night away from the girls and kids. The kids are about the same size as the Ancona and red hens, but don't want any potential injuries due to the size/weight difference. And the kids aren't quite mature enough for that anyways, says chicken mommy. During the day, kids are still closed in the stall with the coop. The hens can fly over or squeeze under the chicken wire that I have attached to the gate panel, but the roo doesn't. I have found a couple of the kids escaped during the day, but this roo hasn't bothered them.
Last year, my first year, I found that the boys matured before the girls. They were all the same age, so were all housed together. I had some EE rapist roos, two that would work together and not let the flock out of the coop. The flock would cower in the coop all day, because as soon as they stepped foot out, they were mated. The roos were separated then sent to dinner. I still have one of the EE roos, he is locked away in the Eglu to be sent for dinner. Nice roo, but he crows at 3am (or earlier) and all day long.
If your roo is the only problem child, may be easier to move him out and let the girls learn to get along for a bit.

You should be able to, that's how I share photos most of the time. I do have problems with them not uploading from time to time. Try closing your browser and going back in.
