Yep... they do. Chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, supplies. All sorts of stuff. I've brought home everything from chickenwire to catfood.... and chickens! I've already promised not to bring home any alpacas or goats. LOL

Trish -- What do you need to get rid of?

Ugh, I've got about 7 or 8 or more hens I need to get rid of to make room. I want to get rid of the older hens and I've an ad on CL but all I'm getting are freakin' spammers!

Sometimes I wish I could reach through the screen and knock sense into people!

I've heard all kinds of comments on this auction, both negative and positive....but...sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I could have them processed...I did email that processor, Renee and I can't thank you enough! She was very sweet and I can't wait to do business with them. She obviously, wants to wait for the warmer weather..fine with me, my roos are a bit on the young side yet, I'm thinking another month. Heck, maybe I'll have those hens turned into stewing hens. I can always use them to make home made chicken stock/broth.
D.gif

I'm jealous! I wish I had the room or a setup to get those cornish rocks...there's always next year. I'm going to be hatching out Barred Rock's and we all know I'll get roos out of that....

I hate CL too sometimes! I've been forwarding the spammers emails to CL & blocking them from my email. You may get more than what you're asking on CL at the auction -- especially at the first one. The auction has both good and bad. If you know what you're looking at AND looking for, you can get lucky. If you're friendly & strike up conversations with people, you can make good connections for future sales or purchases. I'm a hairstylist in Manlius, for Pete's sake... how many people do you think I get to talk chicken with??? LMAO!!!

Faith is very nice... If you wait seven weeks or so, I'll go with you. John doesn't know if he'll have time to do the deed in 7 weeks, so I'll have to have a plan B. One which doesn't involve me plucking chickens by hand.

I know, I've said I wanted to butcher also, but my thinking is this-1) I work 6 days a week...when am I going to have the time? Plus I've got horses! Hello, horses in the warm weather=NO TIME! 2) By the time I buy everything to process these guys, its gonna take years before I see any profit from it, monetarily anyway. 3)What in creation am I gonna do with all the guts/blood/feathers??? Its not like deer hunting where you leave that stuff in the woods and a butcher is dealing with the rest. Have I convinced myself yet??!! LOL Its just easier to do it this way...and at least I'm helping out a local.

A hairstylist in Manlius.....yeah, you ain't talking chicken with no one in that neighborhood!! LOL LMAO!!! Connections are always a good thing, and ugh, if I wasn't working Saturdays at the Post Office.....I'd sooo be there! I can't give up that money though...gots to feed da babies!

Ok here I am,

Now trilyn don't you go filling up on junk. I got RIR's in this incubator and I don't intend to keep them all. I only took them cuz you like them. You know I want rosecombs. Don't get impatient.

I too would like to get rid of hens but can't till some of these young ones start laying. Don't want to unload the BO's cuz I'm getting chicks from Jody and I hope to breed those. One of these girls is nice enough. I've got 15 pullets growing out for the but have egg sales so I can't get rid of the older ones til the younger ones are laying.

Yes I want to go. I've got some roosters to process I've been feeding them this long I'd hate to "give" them away. The younger ones sure but not the ones with meat on their bones. 'sides I'm working on getting meatier birds, how can I tell which to keep if I get rid of them before they've had time to fill out.

Noah can call the hen anything he wants. Just know she may be "Frances Fricasie" some day.

I agree about what to do with the innards. I'd just like someone to give me a schedule so I can plan when to have them ready. You know give me a date to bring them so I can plan. No one does that though.

Oh and trilyn let me know when your going to the TSC so you can show me the wire stuff I need for my new hoop coops. I'll try to keep you away from the chicks. You have to take six and you can't add six more, but I want some GC's so we'll get three each K? No, no stop me! We need an intervention crew outside the store.

Oh and call me when I can come over and see how you got your set up for the winter.

Oh lord am I tired

That'd be cool! It doesn't take long to get them done. I think I'll just have them do the cornish. Of course, you're invited, Silly! Accepting donations of heritage roosters too! Mr "I Don't Have Time" said we should have some people over to process a few days before the BBQ, so they're all done by hand. Love him to death, but I really don't understand him at all!! LOL

Renee, well, he sounds like me..one minute-I'm all, "yes we're doing them here"..the next, "no, don't have time"...and on and on it goes! But since you gave me her name/number, I will be sticking with her, that's a definite!! LOL

Mr. Tim.....yes, we're going to go to TSC...when...goodness knows! I would love a couple of those GC's so if you're looking for me to stop you....you ought to know better by now! Do you realize its been an entire year that we've known each other...Happy Chicken Friendversary!! LOL
hugs.gif
So absolutely, you let me know when it works best for you, I'm available in the afternoons, why don't we make it a Monday? I'm usually off work around 1..unless we get pounded with the snow again, then it will be a bit later.

All my younger babies with the exception of November/December hatches are laying. Mark started freaking out when I told him I was getting rid of his RIR's, but I told him you were giving me a couple that you hatch out. He then resumed breathing, LOL! I am not filling up on junk(omigod...are you talking about the silkies? LOL...oooh Miss Renee is gonna get you for that one!!

), I just need to get rid of older birds...not enough room until I get another hoop house built. I know you aren't calling those br's junk!

What's this COUPLE crap? I've got at least a half doz or more RIR's in the incu. I don't know how many and I didn't want to breed them. Plus the minimum is six at TSC and I don't want four! I figure three each. Plus I have to got there to get some feed today, right now, immediately. I'm low on layer. Almost out. Betsy will kill me if I buy chicks but if I say you gave them to me for a one year friendeversery then you can tell Mark I gave your three for our friendervererys and we'll be safe.

Anyhow gotta wait til Betsy comes home from work and I gotta unload the piece of plywood from HD and 2x2's and have SIL take the grit out from last week, but I'm going today to get feed today.

I didn't mean silkies though they are junk to me. At least til mine hatch. If they do. Then everyone else's is junk. Especially if they look as good as Claudias. Have to ask, How many silkies does it take to dust a room?
