NY chicken lover!!!!

Honestly, I am not a camper. Not that I mind roughing it but I've seen all the work friends go through to camp. I always go visit and am amazed at the "campers" that are out there. The "home" is so much nicer than the first mobile home I lived in. They come with TV's, satellites, air conditioners, huge picture windows. Not really camping in my opinion. (Just my opinion) I do enjoy the relaxing part and the no electricity (no phones)

Your craftsmanship is outstanding!
that isn't camping. That is RV'ing. 2 entirely different things.

Thank you!

Evening all. Hot and humid again and nobody is happy! Had to pump out the back yard. Now its just overcast and humid. Came home from work and hauled fresh water out to everyone with some rooster booster in it. I think the electrolytes and stuff are making a difference in how well they are handling the heat. Did butt checks on everyone and looks okay. Really need it to dry out so I can dust the coops. My tater tot boys Bill and Roger were doing some dominance dancing between them. Hackles raised and some jumping and staring for a minute then they all ran off to forage. I will have to get some pics of them and post them. They are growing out rather nicely. My silkie babies are doing well and Eowyn is making sure that their idiot father doesnt step on them during his excitable moments of me coming over to the coop. Love that roo but "hes just one card short of a full deck"!

Stony---let me know when delivery time is and I will make sure that I am home! Seriously, very nice job. We have only done tent camping, ever. Started when the kids were really little. Now they go. The best part of camping is watching people come in to the campground after dark and watching them open the new boxes of gear they had bought and try to figure out how to put up the tents and such. Spent many amusing nights at the campfire watching that show! Oh yeah---whoever said dutch oven, they are the best! I used two of them all the time while camping...baked, fried, boiled, did everything in them. Love my dutchies!

Lynzi...are they eating and drinking? Is the broody hen their momma? If so, they will stay with her until she kicks them out or ignores them. Eowyns sister Arwin is trying in her own way to mother the chicks. The chicks stick to momma but I think being a first time mom,,Eowyn is letting Arwin be close as she is the older hen and experienced. I wouldnt worry too much. You could always do a thorough inspection of everyone to make sure they are healthy and have no issues going on.

I found some nitrate free, sulfate free all natural beef hotdogs today at the grocery store! I ate one and it seems to be fine. I know it sounds weird but it was so nice to have a hotdog again...at least one that wont kill me. Now if only I could find some bacon. I miss eating those things. Stupid allergy.

Wish we could send all this rain out west to those states that are baking. Thoughts and prayers to the 19 firefighters who lost their lives doing their job and to their families as well. I guess we have nothing to complain about when I think of those families.

Pharm - No, that's the funny part. They're not related. These are the three of the five lav silkies left that I got from Geri Godina back in March? I can't even remember. I threw some watermelon in there this evening and they all came down and ate it. I'm thinking maybe the rain has got them feeling as if they can't come out of the coop? Idk. I plan on checking them out tomorrow when I get around to cleaning that coop/run out.

My favorite way to amuse myself while camping is listening to the Canadian women ramble and talk. My grandmother is 100% French. My grandmother swears perfectly in German, French and English. Let me tell you ...the Canadian women who I listen to, swear like truck drivers

. I understand enough French to get an idea of what they are talking about, but the swearing I understand loud and clear!

Hartmann Sausage in Canandaigua would be the ones you want. I can get the phone # if you need. Ask for Josef or Elizabeth and tell them Karin V. Sent you. They'll work with your allergies.
