NY chicken lover!!!!

Man I went to pick up one of my bantam cochins and thought I was going to loose some skin. Neck feathers straight up never seen any of my chickens do that before. Wish I had the cam ready for the little bugger. Well rather than flood here with pics I made a thread trying to deside if 3 of my chickens are roosters like I think they are.

Hope you feel better miquwid.

Those using saddles how do your ladies like them?

Well i'm thinking both silkies are roosters unless they take longer than reds to start laying. They was older by a week or two but still no smaller eggs. With how many roos I think I have i'm glad they aint fighting.

Miquwid, I have a newf like that. She has never had much of a coat, and I didn't keep up when it was so hot...now every time I brush a section I get enough fur to make a small dog. Or a lot of toupes...there has to be a use for that stuff.

I have one girl who has an attractive sunflower patterned saddle with padded areas to protect her wings. She looks quite stylish, but is a bit subdued. Perhaps acting more dignified because of her wardrobe?

I'm up to 2 layers! I got an egg this morning that was lighter and smaller than the others I've been getting. I'm 99% sure it was from BR. Their eggs were always a tiny bit smaller than my orps. Then I got another one from my Buff Orp. Thats 6 eggs in the incubator!

Talking of incubators. I had two of the four fertiles hatch today. I have my egg turner going on my desk with 10 eggs waiting to go into the bator. Hope to have about twenty eggs before putting them in there.

Still got my first four chicks i hatch out in mud room looks like two roos and two ladies so far.

Finished my brooder have my two turkeys in it now. So my small pet carrier is free for the new chicks.

All that and the wife still hasn't kicked me out of the house yet.

Boring day at work so far. I get to do nothing all day pretty much.

Jlaw thanks I'm just trying to get through work. Congrats on the hatch!

Glass I can't say this dog is in terrible shape it's just he's older now and it's harder for his owners to take care of his coat. But it seems all,the dogs that came into today so far are in bad shape. Oh well my life as a dog and cat groomer!

That's awesome lynzi I can't wait to get home and check for eggs!

Country the fish looks so yummy little but of salt pepper flour and pan sear in some butter delicious!

I agree with Gramma Chick ..... you have to really bear down on the roo ... I had one that loved to attack - frankly - for him, attacking back just upped his attitude.

After that - when ever a roo does a little rush at me, I walk at him with arms held out ! His eyes do something like this ....

and he runs off - because he knows if I catch him he is in for some forced cuddling and being toted around under my arm for a while.

Good luck with him - don't feel bad if wife and kids don't have the firm hand he needs .... we all have different personalities. But you have to go right him in one way or another .... or eat him.

Don't forget what happened when my BR got tamed. Now I get no fertile eggs. I regret having knocked him out.
