NY chicken lover!!!!

Ke good luck on the hatch

Pyxis very cute.

2 of 6 production layers just started laying, I hope when I get home from work it's three!

I missed some of this on guns but put it this way don't come on my property or in my house and expect me to do nothing! Don't mess with family or my animals. I ain't crazy or mean I just protect my family and home! But a Louisville slugger to the skull, could be arranged as well! By the way I'm so ready for the zombie apocalypse. So if someone breaks in I could hold the dog back a practice my zombie fighting moves. Speaking of which both neighbors on both sides of me were robbed, Igor the cops understand I ain't taking crap laying down.

Look what hatched at 6:33 AM

Grandbaby #3 Addelin Grace who weighed in at 7lbs. 11 ozs. and is 21 1/2inches long Mommy and baby are doing great. Grandson said he is glad his baby sister is finally here because now his other sister has someone else to torture.

I think when I'm downsizing I'll concentrate on my nine escape artists. We hooked up an electric fence for them with a nice charger and they've gotten the hang of hopping over it immediately so it's useless. Strangely enough, in my back area with most of my chickens I have the same setup and not once has anyone jumped out in two years. Grr. Anyone interested in nine escape artist chickens? :) Would have to count again but I think four are huge black australorps from annie, four olive/green eggers and one mutt white chicken (leghorn x BO). About 1.5 years old and so friendly they follow me everywhere and poop in the garage pottering after me trying to get in the house. :p

One is perpetually broody and one is missing feathers on her head - she was also broody, but decided to snuggle under two other broodies and they ate her feathers for breakfast.  So now she looks like johnny rotten.

They really are good chickens, but if I put them in with my compliant ladies I think they'll teach them bad habits. :p

I have a black Orp from Annie that roosts in the rafters. She has a slim build for an Orp, her blue sister is a big girl. If they roost in the rafters, they don't count, right? Then I can get more, right?

That's right! I have two leghorns that roost in the rafters. they are so skinny they don't count either. My Australorps from annie are huge, much much nicer than the sad hatchery australorp I used to have (the chick in my avatar)..

Talked to wife on break i guess the light sussex got out and she was trying to get her back into the small coop. Thatas when the roo went after her. He just started mateing the hens not long ago. Any idea when he will calm down about us handleing them? Thats if he does calm down.

Give him some time. Separate him by himself for about one week. Let him see u hold the girls and know u wont hurt them. We went threw same situation and worked for us. Good luck. Pm me if u need a little help.

Morning all.
I just set 7 eggs in the incubator. I decided to try dry hatching this time. I've never done it before so I'm kinda nervous. The bator has been running since last night and sitting nicely at 100° with 27% humidity. If anyone has dry hatching tips please feel free to share them.
Stony I feel the same way when it comes to guns and hunting.
AQHAchick22, take the course. Even if you never hunt a day in your life you'll be better informed.
Enjoy the day everyone.

Chris
I do dry hatching, but I put water in the incubator once a week. Don't let your humidity get any lower. Then pump up the last 3 days.
