NY chicken lover!!!!

I do dry hatching, but I put water in the incubator once a week. Don't let your humidity get any lower. Then pump up the last 3 days.

I did a do dry hatch also, I keep the humidity at 30% and then pump it right up for the last 3 days. I had 9 of 12 hatch and 2 weren't fertile and 1 couldn't get out of the shell and I was too late helping it.

Thanks to you both. I had to add some water today. About a table spoon full and then put foil over the tray to cut down on the surface area. So far, so good. 100 degrees and 30-35% humidity.

Congrats Nutty

That's right! I have two leghorns that roost in the rafters. they are so skinny they don't count either. My Australorps from annie are huge, much much nicer than the sad hatchery australorp I used to have (the chick in my avatar)..

I have 11 hatchery australorps and 1 australorp from Nature Berry Farms. You can tell them apart from across the yard. They are half her size.

Congrats Nutty!!!

Spent the evening cleaning the coop. That feels good. It was a huge undertaking. I walked all the dirty wood chips 2 bucketfulls at a time a hundred feet away. Dh shows up the last load with the tractor.
Right after I cleaned the nest boxes, one australorp kept going in the empty box, scratching and clucking, out again, in again, for an hour. 8:00 she lays an egg in the new shavings. lol Must've been holding it awhile.

And some news. Well I finished this hatch 2/4 hatched. One that didn't had the cracked shell the other I don't know what happened I don't open my failed eggs. looks like it developed by candleing.

Also desided to get rid of all my roosters besides my main. Also have to get rid of all my chicks. I really don't need 3 bantam cochin roos, 2 silkie roos along with all these chicks. Although the wife is falling in love with the crowing from one of the cochins cause it's "cute". Doubt anyone wants any of these birds but if you do let me know I'm posting the probably free on craigslist tomorrow or maybe tonight.
AND NOW PICTURE TIME!
First up is the new babies

And they're cat carrier turned brooder/home made lid.only 85 watt bulb in it.

My new brooder. Right now holding the broad brested bronze turkeys. and my rescue dog rocko checking them out. 26x50 inch set up so I can move to mud room and place on an old counter top.

Turkeys!!

Dog cage brooder holding my 4, 4 week old

my two 4 week old roosters

all 4 of my 4 week old chicks.

edit: trying to take all the spaces out of this post for some reason it is like double spacing sorry.
