NY chicken lover!!!!

Hello Veggie Chick
I'm in Australia home of the Australorp , Got myself 4 girls 2 months ago are all australorps so jumpy? mine were raised by the local school indoors and when i got them they flinched at anything flying over. They come running to me but then sort of squat (almost a submission pose) when I get near. they have been laying for about 4 weeks which is odd because it is the middle of winter here. None have tried to fly out of our yard- I lock them up at night because of the foxes. They do fly if scared. I'd love to have your 'Great Escape' lot but I think I am just a little too far away. Ha Ha

people including myself shoot turkeys with a 12 gauge shotgun and don't ruin 1 bit of meat. People shoot ducks and geese out of the sky with a 12 gauge. Any gun owner worth his salt should be able to kill a rooster at close range with either a pellet gun or a .22 with shorts. And kill it as quickly and humanely as picking it up, flipping it upside down, sticking it in a cone and cutting it's throat. I would say the small caliber gun is more humane than the "normal" way of killing roosters. The legality of it I don't know.....
Thanks! I guess my ignorance about guns and hunting made me thinking you would somehow ruin the meat and a pellet gun was for chipmunks etc. Though when you put it in perspective with turkeys and hunting with a shotgun I guess it does make more sense.

I have this thing. And please don't take it personally but take it into consideration. It seriously annoys me when people talk guns and or hunting when they know nothing about either. Especially given the stance our media and our govt are taking. And none of them reporting or representing us know anything about them. And people randomly putting false, misleading, or downright wrong things about guns on the internet is damaging. I recommend taking a gun safety and hunting course to anyone before even considering discussing anything about guns.

I second that! Though I don't hunt, I do have a pistol permit for concealed carry. My pet peave is the "take all the guns away" people. Uh, huh... and the ones who have them illegally are just going to turn them over to the police. Yup.
I respect someone else's opinion if they do not want to own a gun, but I wish they would realize those who do are not bad people. Those who own guns ILLEGALLY are.
#1 rule... safety, safety, safety!

I agree and my father has been pushing me to take the courses since he is a gun owner and thinks it's important. I've just been putting it off but maybe it's time that I finally do take the courses. Sorry, I didn't mean to put any wrong information or anything out there, it was just a question and I would hate to put wrong information out there.

Morning all.
I just set 7 eggs in the incubator. I decided to try dry hatching this time. I've never done it before so I'm kinda nervous. The bator has been running since last night and sitting nicely at 100° with 27% humidity. If anyone has dry hatching tips please feel free to share them.
Stony I feel the same way when it comes to guns and hunting.
AQHAchick22, take the course. Even if you never hunt a day in your life you'll be better informed.
Enjoy the day everyone.

Hello All!
On our way to Boston and was doing some reading while DH drives. Funny the subject is guns, a large group of my friends in CT are forced to leave the state due to the recent gun ban. They all work for my friends company, PTR and have been forced to take their work elsewhere. They are moving to South Carolina in October. Company paid of course but they now have to leave their friends and families if they want to continue working for this company. So sad.

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend! I miss my cheeps...

Hello all! How about some afternoon cuteness?

Also, does anyone have any tips on getting a duck to take a duckling I hatched out? I want to give it to her but when I put it in the nest she refuses to sit back on the nest and she won't stay for me to slide it under her. Lemon up there might have a duckling running around with all the chicks if this keeps up.
