NY chicken lover!!!!

Top of the white eggs, does it look more tinted than pearl white to anyone? I am unsure if it's from my leghorns or my silkies. I'm up to bringing in 4-6 eggs a day now!

ChickPrincess am glad you caught the egg eater but if she is laying thin shelled eggs is she eating them just because she is lacking calcium?

Got to call it an early night Hubby is having Surgery in the AM and has to be at the Hospital at 5:30 am so need to get up at 3:30 YUCK!!!
Wishing hubby a quick recovery!
She is the only hen out of 51 that lays a rough, thin-shelled egg (feels like 60 grit sandpaper). All the others lay perfect eggs. I do feed them crushed eggshell back to them and also the occasional oyster shell.

Henic are Turkeys are to keep? Sorry for your lost.

I don't have the heart to process these guys - they're now my breeding stock. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

My main guy - love him!

Yesterday was chaotic so I wasn't able to get on and update. Had to wash and change bedding 2 days running and yesterday it was around work and doctor's. I didn't get home until 4pm and had to dry bedding, make bed, make dinner, collect eggs, feed horses n dogs, dishes, put groceries away, and set up the girls clothes and bag for today. Oh and bathe girls! Never a dull moment.

I passed inspection at the docs office. Still have some plug and am not dialated. They asked me if I wanted to be taken out of work, but I said no can't afford it. I need to push more fluids and try to sit down more.

Update on FIL...
Just got word this morning that the spots are cancer and that the last round of chemo had no effect. Dr. says he has 2 choices at this point. Keep doing what they are doing (he has chemo put in his bladder directly) or have the bladder removed and he would have to wear a bag, obviously. I guess he's putting his foot down and doesn't want it removed, though no decision has been made.
From my standpoint, the cancer is obviously spreading because they found 3 pinhead sized tumors besides the one larger spot. The last round of chemo did not work.
No brainer, right? Darn stubborn Italians. Dr. is getting a second opinion.

Nutty I hope your DH is doing ok and that lilly is feeling better today.

Ginny glad you had a good time and saw some amazing sights.

ChickPrincess-- I hope for the best for FIL

Came home last night and was soooo tired but had to take care of animals. I gave the hens and Broody J(rooster) some fresh blueberries, cleaned their pen picked up the yard. Then it happened....Broody got out! You should have seen us. Running around like fools. After 3 hours, scratches from the blackberry bushes and being a bug food he walked into his pen. I wish I had it on video.

here is a picture of my handsome boy.

He is handsome !
You dont Free Range ? Not everyone can .
The thing about Roos ...They are always the 1st to go to bed ...mine calls my hens to go to bed ..
The hens stayed up later before I had him ...& never wanted to go inside till it was dark
Chickens are like monkey see Monkey do ..If one escapes ...longs you are out ...it is okay ...
once they figure out that they are the only one out..They will want to get back in with everyone else ..
After a small I am out fun period ...of course ..LOL

Does she have a yeast infection ? / Vent Gleet ?
Loss of feathers near the vent
Reddened or swollen vent tissue on the vent Very wet / bad smelling droppings , Swollen vent
We had one who we recently culled . She laid those sand paper eggs about once a month . Never the same after the fox attacked her last year

Morning Everyone,
working 8-2 today so I can go pick up my extra duck tonight. I can't remember how old these ones are but they told me they have no idea who is a duck and who is a drake. I know they were older than 5wks. I'm really hoping I can pick a duck out. Some of them have to be quacking by now right?? LOL Mine are 13wks old so if these are at least 7wks I should have no problem.

A relative of mine was just there! She was posting pics on FB everyday, I want to go there now. Her pictures were beautiful!

Go sooner than later. The glaciers are estimated to be gone by 2020. The views were absolutely breathe taking!!
