NY chicken lover!!!!

I think I have the same wild apple in my yard! Very tall, fruit is actually good so I always wondered if it was planted by the previous owner. Hubby trimmed it this winter so we would get bigger fruit this year...so far it seems to be working! I throw all the drops in the coop and they love it. After watching reading Botany of Desire and then seeing the documentary I now want an "apple forest", skip the orchard, too much work and not enough diversity!

Rancher I'm sorry to hear about your BR's. Hope they find their way back.

TOB, I will keep you posted if I hear anything.

For those that use Eprinex, do you retreat after 7 days, or is it 2 weeks?

I had checked the chickens before for parasites but didn't find anything. I was collecting eggs today and discovered bugs (mites?) crawling all over the eggs. I thought they were tiny grains of sand at first. I FREAKED. So they got the first dose of Eprinex tonight.
I also read something about Orange Guard, and I happen to have orange oil from my business. I mixed it up and sprayed down the floor, roosts and nest boxes thoroughly. It smells delicious in there. lol

It's 10 days. I bet the chickens are loving the new smell in the coop and are saying "any smell but poop is ok in our minds"

Rancher I'm so sorry I hope you find them.

Sorry I missed a bunch of post lots of homework. This is my first year getting apples from my tree I'm so excited. My sunflowers standing between 7-9ft are so slow to bloom. I've given them compost since April now it's getting a little cold I'm worried I won't see them open up. I'm a little concerned with my peach tree but the fruit seems to be growing.

Anywho I hope all is well, the chickens are good, my neighbor brings his friends by to check them out. He's a good guy I can ask him for anything but it's weird having someone look over my shoulder so to speak.

Well next year when we started hatching maybe we will give him a few chicks.

Well off to work. Have a good day!

I use eucalyptus oil diluted in water in a spray bottle. I have never had bugs in my coops but it is suppose to be a deterant. I think it just smells nice in the coop

Can't tell exactly if this is the same tree but looks like it. The apples aren't tiny but not large either. The deer love them. Stony, what do you think?

not that it is easy to tell from either picture but to me they both look like wild American apple tree's. Yes deer do love them
