Lynzi, congrats on the 2 hatches! 2 is better than 0! Don't beat yourself up over it.

Wow, lot's to catch up on. I'll have to sit down tomorrow when I'm off and go through the posts.

Lynzi don't let it bother you. If hatching were easy, everyone would be doing it. Every time I run the incubator is another learning experience. It does sound like they may have drown in the shell. It's ok, things happen, you learn and move on. Luckily they were your own eggs and not expensive shipped ones.
As for the silkie chick, could it be spraddle leg? If so I did a quick google search and found this https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/41693/spraddle-leg-splay-leg-treatment-instructions Maybe it will help.

Everyone IS doing it.

Otherwise I'd sell more chicks.

Anyone want a barred frizzled roo? Though I am loathe to give him up in case something happens to his sister.

Evening all. Loooonnnggg Day at work and all the customers were nasty. Well, maybe not all but a good part of them were. Anyways, Marquisella, it was the roo and Rancher, he is in repose in the fridge. Dh came home and let everyone out and Roger went after all the girls. He says that Roger was unmerciful to the girls and that got Dh mad so he caught him and did him in. Bill is on notice that he is next. I guess I will give up on every having a rooster for breeding because I dont think they will make it past their jerk stage with Dh. At least my silkie boys can stay because he knows better than to touch them. They are really good boys anyways. My barred rock girl was running around outside when I got home. She seems fine but I am keeping her separated for a few days so she can heal up good. Her wounds look good and have scabbed over nicely. I think she is enjoying the deluxe accomodations and room service! Ugh---off to bed as its another long day of crabby people. Wish I could hand out happy pills but my pharmacist would frown on that. Oh---i meant crocheting when I wrote that. See how tired I am? My brain hurts from dealing with doctors, insurance and mean people all day! May the xanax be with you!

Can we have a pic???? I just picked up a black frizzle from Chris. On second thought I just remembered your not supposed to breed a frizzle to a frizzle. But I'd still like to see a pic.

Gramma how did I miss your report of a missing roo? I went back over 6 pages and couldn't find the original post. I wish they're put the post number on the quotes. If there is anything i can do let me know. What kind was he?

(am I the only one annoyed with these blasted ads that you just run your cursor across and they start to play? I don't know whose idea they were but I'd like to _______________ them. )

Hi All,

Does anyone know of an organic fungicide for vegetable plants and fruit trees that is also animal friendly? With all of the rain we've gotten this year I have every kind of fungi growing but my chickens and ducks free range all around my garden and fruit trees so I don't want to put anything that could be harmful to them. I've found out that organic doesn't mean safe for animals or even the environment. I'd appreciate any ideas on the subject even though it's too late for this year. At least we can be prepared when it happens again.

Thanks,
Jay

Have you tried the safer brand?

Yeah I missed that too, but regardless I'm so sorry about your roo.

Yes I get annoyed as well.

PhArm ugh I hope you have a better day 2mro. Seems like you've been busy filling the freezer. I hope you can find another that is just as nice looking but nice as well. What kind was he again?

So I waited till night and added the silkie n brabanter in with the other silkie. The brabanter cried like a baby I'm like really your 18wks old get over it. Now that I made room I think I will add some chickens 2mro. Chicken math is ridiculous lol

I hope everyone has a good night.

WOW....waded through all the posts (almost 200) and hope that everyone's troubles diminish and everyone's flocks flourish.

Now you "weak stomached" people? Don't gut the carcass ....strip the breast meat off the bone, cut the thigh/leg off at the joint and throw the rest away. It's just not worth that little bit of back meat if gutting birds make you ill or stop you from processing altogether.

Does anyone remember how old my birds are? The ones hatched this year, I mean. I can't find my chicken calendar and I have no clue how old they are, so I can't figure out when to process these jerky roos I have running around the yard.

I can only hear a slight gurgle in his voice. But what concerns me most is his sneezing and discharge from nose. It may be best to isolate him and start some type of treatment. Good luck he is a handsome man

Have any suggestions for medications? He's my first sick bird. I do have some QT crates I can move him into.
