I'm unsure but I would go with PhArm's suggestion. A but of vitamins and extra protein with a fruit mash could hurt either.Have any suggestions for medications? He's my first sick bird. I do have some QT crates I can move him into.
So I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a chicken calender lol. But I don't remember how your guys are, so sorry.WOW....waded through all the posts (almost 200) and hope that everyone's troubles diminish and everyone's flocks flourish. Now you "weak stomached" people? Don't gut the carcass ....strip the breast meat off the bone, cut the thigh/leg off at the joint and throw the rest away. It's just not worth that little bit of back meat if gutting birds make you ill or stop you from processing altogether. Does anyone remember how old my birds are? The ones hatched this year, I mean. I can't find my chicken calendar and I have no clue how old they are, so I can't figure out when to process these jerky roos I have running around the yard.
Well sounds like things are better with the flock good to hear. Good luck with work today.Brella--corid is good for upper respiratory infections. Mix it with water for 5 days. Bill is being very quiet this morning. I suppose with Roger suddenly gone, he is trying to stay under the radar. The vetrimycin spray I am using on my hurt hen is healing up her wound quick. Its looks even better this morning. She is definately enjoying her inside accomodations, eating a leisurely breakfast this morning while chatting with me. Hoping to get her back out with the flock again tomorrow. I hear running in the ceiling above me so time to get dh on mouse patrol again. Off to work, hoping its a better day. You all have a good day.
I hope it works too. I'm so happy for you it's your last day!Morning All, Last day of work for me!!Thanks for the help last night with my little chickie's legs. I did put a bandaid on but I felt so bad for it. The thing was just laying there all night chirping away because it couldn't get up. So I removed the band aid after going back to that forum and reading that someone had used an elastic instead. I have these little colored elastics that I use for my daughter's hair, they come in three different sizes. So I used the larger of the three and it worked perfectly. Placed on one leg, twisted it a few times and then placed on the other. This way it would be able to wiggle it's legs out of the elastic. Woke up to it this morning being able to get around and it's feet are nicely positioned under it's body instead of flopping out to the sides. I just really hope this works and I dont remove the elastic in a few days and it goes back to spraddling its legs again.![]()
They are handsome boys, everyones ducks are beautiful, omg I so jealous, but Duck adventure begins next spring. So I separate my two silkies from the flock because the one was getting beat up pretty badly, well in order to make it 3 I added the brabanter. Well the brabanter is throwing a fit, I did the switch at night but she through a fit last night as well. I hope she settles down, I do not want to get another silkie to add to the crew, the brabanter is 18wks and the silkies are a 1yr. Should I be worried? Otherwise the rest of the crew is great it seems my chickens have formed mini clicks within the flock it's great to watch.these 3 drakes are looking for a home. If you want them you are saving them from freezer camp. 1 Runner 2 Khaki Campbells. All hatched this spring under broody's. They are almost of mating age and the duck chaos is going to begin soon so I need to clean house. The 4th drake, the Khaki Campbell in the back is the one I am keeping. He seems to run the show. Handsome dude
