NY chicken lover!!!!

Tell me, does anyone hold a yearly "swap meet"?

See the thing is we all have talents and things other than chickens. I was just wondering if there was a yearly swap meet where folks brought their goods to swap with others for their goods? Plus chickens of course.

Plus I have another question.

When you process your birds, what do you do with all the guts and everything? I have my concerned about the smell attracting predators.

AND

I do know that Vermont has a traveling processing set up. Does anyone know of such a thing in NY? Is there anyone here who does a once a year processing?

Sorry, that dog needs a good lesson. My husband had kneed replacement
and I was at the hospital today. I should have put the chickens in...but I did not.

Came home to find 3 of them GONE...and as I was walking near the coop...out flew the hawk.

NOW THEY ARE LOCKED IN THE BARN. Cannot take any more chances. Hawks seem
to know when no one is arouind. Regards, Aria

children number 1 should NOT be allowed on this site. Wait, that aren't allowed by the rules. The rules CLEARLY state you must be 13 to be on this site. But I digress. ....... children should NOT be sheltered from real life.
So to doubly make it clear. Children are NOT allowed on this site via the rules of the forum

This is not your decision to make regarding other peoples children. I did contact Nifty, to have him weigh in and help us out.

I don't process birds (yet) bit if I did I'd feed it back to the hens. The heart and liver are good for them. I would freeze some also.

I have no intention of feeding my chickens cleaning back to the rest of the flock. That's just gross,

but to each his/her own.

I can hear them now. "Does this taste familiar to you?" " Yeah it kinda tastes like Julie and Rob . "

Ok I don't know what's worse, the traffic at the end of my road for the Apple Fest or the amount of ladybugs outside today!!! OMG Gross! You can't stand outside my house without at least 20 landing on you and they BITE! And of course out AC units are still in the kids' bedrooms upstairs so guess what's up there! My son says to me, "Mom, you HAVE GOT to come up in my room and vacuum the ladybugs out of there, there are probably a million up there!" He wasn't kidding!

I have never seen so many in a house ever! Took the ACs out, vacuumed them up, now I'm going to have to make a run for the woods to empty it out. Holy Moly!

Really wanted to clean out the coops today too. But if I'm going to be attacked and bitten by ladybugs forget it!
Last spring I had to get a guy out to look at our furnace. It would run for a few minutes get the temp up one degree then shut off. He came and checked it out and pulled a large coffee cup full of those lady bugs out of the condencer. He said that I'm the second person that he has seen that. I have them all over the house too . I vacuumed up yesterday. They were everywhere. I find them in the curtains the most. I hate it most of all when the dogs decide them to eat them. The stupid bugs make their breath stink bad!

OMG I hope they are not in my basement! That is the last thing I need. Today I realized there weren't as many, and I'm thinking because it wasn't nearly as sunny as it was yesterday. I read somewhere that they are attracted to white. My house isn't white but the trim is and the front porch is. And thats where a majority of them are. Not so many today though. I'm hoping that was the worst of it.

Went to the Apple Festival today, as DH ran in the Apple Run, got third in his age group, and then had apple dumplings and walked through the craft tents. It is a juried festival, but IMO they set the bar pretty low. I saw about 4 quality booths which would tempt me. And 3 of those I would need grand kids to buy for, sigh. No grand kids in sight. The traffic is terrible, but it is only once a year. The race is really nice, the scenery is lovely, and it's not too hilly.

Jlaw, so sorry for your loss, and you did the right thing, being up front with everyone. I fear I would wimp out and SSS. You may wind up shooting that dog. Maybe you should dig a hole now. I love animals, but I find that when my animals are threatened, I can calmly plan to kill the threatening animal.

as far as I can see the spoiler alert is not mandatory. BTW talking about moderation is against the rules as well

Either way doesn't matter to me. This is the only thread I follow so never going on BYC again wouldn't hurt my feelings any. If I am required to do a spoiler alert for a natural act of chicken keeping.......
